I watched a movie in marketing today, and one of the anti-marketing to children advocates compared the way markets research children to them being paedophiles. It really rubbed me the wrong way, and I thought of this thread.
On topic, I hope Honey Boo Boo doesn't end up a train wreck by the time she's 16. I don't like the beauty pageant industry, it makes girls think that being beautiful is the most important aspect of themselves.
I've seen Toddlers in Tiaras. I remember seeing one of the kids was upset right before the show because she was tired and her hair piece was hurting her, and her mom was telling her to give it up and smile for the judges. It can't be good to teach these girls to internalize their pain and smile instead.
