Let them have their fun.
They want to do their thing. You want to do yours.
If they want to do all of the aforementioned things, then I say let them, and don't complain either. They have their own lives to tend to, and we do, to ours.

Yeah...Good point...But everyone I know that claims to be hardcore or scene or w/e the hell it is all just sit around and talk about being scene/hardcore...
Ugh...Ok last rant about my little friend but I went to his house today and all he did was sit around and listen to his shitty hardcore music...He even started dancing hardcore...
So I walked out of his house for a while while he broke a few chairs because he heard a shitty "death growl" in a hardcore song...
You know what... I'm in a shitty mood today...My mom put a damn computer thing where it blocks out everything I can't even type the word pee-eye-es-es (spell it out) without it blocking it...yet it doesnt block out the word shitty?
Anyway...there is nothing "hardcore" about someone that wears his sister's pants.

HA HA HA! when i warned people about this they said it was a phase...then we had little kids in baggy pants coming to our shows, and drinking our beer...they got outta control and all the REAL punks left..now you have alcoholic 12 year olds trying to get a leg over every Friday night, when they all told their parents they were having a sleep over.
the supports is great, it gives bands publicity...but not the kind you'd want...and when the cops come to raid, who takes the balme? Certainly not their bloody parents!

I'm quite with you on that. Where I live, I don't think anyone uses that term. Hence, why I am rather clueless.

ha ha ha- i heard the funniest thing: middle-classed, suburban white kids having a conversation. baggy pants are better than skinny legs because it means that they can hide their guns and knives better...AT A FUCKING GIG?!?!
ah...i give up...from now on i'm going to go and sit in my corner at mordor and drink absynthe until they close...

It'd be somewhat hypocritical to start putting down scene or emo, don't you think? I mean, we don't like it when somebody makes a generalization about Goth and starts insulting us. I'm not a big fan of that genre either, but it doesn't really affect my life in any way. Let them do what they want, I really doubt that subculture will last. They'll move on to something else eventually.

Only if I can knock the punk kids down and make them wear flannel. After all, lumberjacks were here before them.

Only if I can beat up preppy kids and make them wear tarzan suits...after all, jungle people were before them.

We were talking about the whole punk/goth thing, not fashion in general.

Except that it IS general. You can't say that Goth was the origin of fashion, and although emo (or scene) may have borrowed elements, neither is Goth a pure fashion. Goth borrowed elements from previous groups and fashions. That's the cycle of fashion. It doesn't make any sense to make fun of the emo kids for doing what we ourselves have done.

I must not understand, then. I thought that you were saying that cradle & I were off-topic, when clearly we weren't.

LMFAO I dont know what scene is... and though I hate steriotyping and all... here's my view. Goth = badass looks (and goth girls = jaw dropping) Goth is more in depth than the music, or the clothing. The people who listen it, dress it, and live it ARE Goth. Most goths dont really fade to black until 16+... These fads (Emo Scene, etc) come and go, and really have no true following, they're flakey and just trying to fit in. I just wish youtube and other mass video sources would quit grouping Goth with Emo.... Grrrr
Emo = guys in girls clothing or looking like they're out of a bad all male anime series. Either that, or Emo could be "the Elton John look". I dont know, its scary... who lets their 10-16 year old dress like Michael Jackson or Elton John? *eeps*

Reply to my own darn post (I do that a lot)
Since Emo, and Scene, and whatever MAY be more than a fashion to some people (since goth is to all of us) we cant really compare point to point like you could if it was just looks. I just wish people would quit jumping to conclusions based on looks. This other crap is giving goths a bad name (the reason many of us didnt "fade to black" years ago, maybe?)
