Yeah, it has to be all sepia and made of brass and copper to be steampunk. Plus, you gotta cover it in gears and have it burst out steam and shit. 
That would be so cool if it actually had a function. Maybe it could keep your doggie warm via steam power.

I think I remember a bunch of old school goths bitching about the cybergoths from back in the day. Ya know, when black vinyl was just... not cool cause it wasn't a goth band tee and black jeans.
Goth also has its phases. Even punk had its phases.
