blech... my town is safe but several friends in surrounding areas were not so lucky. Now they have to sit and wait for insurance companies to fuck them sideways.

Well, I'm not there. I'm in Tokyo. But I grew up there and I also lived there during law school. So it's the closest thing to home that I have. It looks like the worst is probably past. Thanks, though!

So far my home is ok, thanks for asking. I live in Corona, the city at the top of the map below, and the fire is blowing from West to East (Left to right in the map) so as long as the weather doesn't change, I will be ok.
