In California, north of San Francisco is pretty much dead. There isn't much in the scene if your under 21. I haven't spotted another goth in months and most of the emos think I'm one of them (espionage work, I swear) so I'm not really "in" on the local goings-on, if we have any.

San Diego-Most of the people are usually nice but the music is laughable. Nothing but the same EBM top 40 at the biggest clubs and spinning obvious 80s hits allow you to qualify for being a DJ. They're also obsessed with packing floors.

The best one actually played Nervous Gender only to quit when he got married and got replaced by the above guy.

The most goth you'll hear in one night is the same damn Red Light, Human Fly, and that one fucking Chameleons song but if you're arrive early enough you might get some not obvious hits. To them, deathrock is Sebastiane by SGC and I don't think the people who like actual industrial are that happy either. I can't even get a Cabaret Voltaire out of 'em and some are downright haughty with requests even if there's not a scratch to be had on a CD and especially if they don't fit into their idea of goth! But when it comes time for a local show that's not a huge icon (Kommunity FK, The Meteors, Legendary Pink Dots) or anything regarding old-school, most of them are nowhere to be found.

There's only one place to go if you're not lucky enough to grab a fake-ID and it just looks bad (Club Xanth or Cathedral at Hot Monkey Love Cafe). Friends who have been there said it consisted of spooky kids and mall goffs trying drink each other's blood and Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" passing for goth music.

TL;DR summary: The EBM floors and clubs basically outnumber the old school/trad rooms and clubs 4:1.

I don't really know, decent I guess, know quite a few from specific suburbs but I don't really venture out into the city or seek those kinds of things so I don't really know.

People here pretty much like local bands that are all screamo. That's about it.

I dont see many goths around where I live. Maybe the odd 1 or 2 now and then.
It's mostly emos v_V

I dont know any clubs near me but the one i have been to was all the way up in Sheffield. T'was called Corporation (i feel a da ja vu moment here I'm sure i've said this before) I'ts a mix of about 3 or 4 types of Music, Metal Goth Punk Somthing else O_o

Have you been to Strangeland Records in Alexandria? While not a club they do have some good local bands from time to time. If you are closer to Richmond there are a few clubs there as well.

As for here in Detroit...we have one-well known goth club--City Club (if you look up cybergoth on wikipedia, it's listed there). I go there sometimes. I used to go a lot more before I turned 21. Now that I'm 22, I usually go to Luna (21+ goth/industrial night on Wendsday), and have been meaning to check out Necto and the Ritz.

The scene in Melbourne, though basically restricted to over-18 events at clubs, is probably the best in Australia. There are only really three 'goth' clubs worth going to, but they're all a lot of fun: 1334 (the only one with consistently good music), Cabaret Nocturne and Golgotha. The scene also seems to be very welcoming to newcomers, at least it was to me, and there are a lot of cool people around. I like it here.

Well best in Aussie Land doesn't really say much, haha. Still, Melbourne is certainly far from being a complete goth desert.

Box Hill Cafe Rats... Hmmm, well I'm a long way from Box Hill so that's probably a no. Who are these Cafe Rats?

Anyway if you're over 18 (just because most stuff in the 'scene' is at bars and clubs, etc) definitely check out www.gothic.org.au and go the Melbourne forum to see the various meetups and other events going on. If you ever come out to 1334 or CabNoc you'll be very likely to bump into Bat Brains and I, haha.

Phoenix/Mesa/TEMPE, AZ, USA - Tempe's got a pretty decent scene, Mill Ave's alright to hang on, and Lawrence down @ Graffiti shop is cool to sit and talk to.

Gadsden, Alabama. The scene here is pretty much dominated by grindcore, metalcore, and pop/emo bullshit. The only thing around here that comes close to goth is one or two EBM clubs in the city. Address Unknown's going to blow their minds.

YEAH!! Actually...no. Not much scene as far as I know. Though there are some of us undead around, I don't know to what extent there are events. THough there are some concerts...and some club nights with fetish/industrial themes. I probably jsut don't really know about them because I'm underage.

well, where i grew up, Winter Haven, FL...there is NOTHING. You have to go to like Tampa and Ybor City to find anything. (On the + side, there is Dark Horizons which is a radio station that plays industrial, ebm, goth, etc..) But now i'm in Vegas..and i still don't see much except a lot of "scene" kids. They're everywhere i tell you!!! i can't seem to get away from them! GAH!

I think Das Bunker is in LA. I'm about 30min north of San Francisco. If anyone knows anything that allows under 21 please speak up.

They're a bunch of goths of varying flavours, metal heads, drunks and druggies, and some other people who I can't seem to give a genre to help with the imagery, anyway they all congragate at a small asian Cafe in Box Hill.

Well I'm actually only 16 unfortunately but I can pass for as high as 25! XD

I'm in Melbourne, along with Cicero.
The gothic scene on the whole is good, and the Deathrock scene is slowly growing bigger with the success of 1334 I think.

I don't think you'd get much hassle going to a club Corpsey; I and none of my friends get asked for ID and we're all pretty young.

Baltimore Maryland has a few decent concert venues. We get decent bands to come here on tour. Like otep, static x, as I lay dying etc.

But I cant think of a single "goth" club. I would go to dc but I lack transportation.

There is a decent sized "anarchist scene" "activist scene" for lack of a better word. Lots of protests and the like.
There are allot of local bands but mostly if you have to find basement parties where local bands play. They are usually decent.

I would say there is a decent number of alternative type teens. But mostly they just hang in the woods and listen to a loud sterio. We scrape by as best we can.....

some one should buy a large amount of land turn it into a town/city and just make it a kick ass "goth zone" or just a general ALTERNATIVE ZONE.

Actually, Das Bunker(18+) is in Los Angeles; which is about 400ish miles due south. (nowhere bleedin close)

1984, Blackwave, Affliction, and Die Maschinen are closer to her. Those are actually in San Francisco. As far as their age requirements, I haven't a clue. You stop caring about age limitations once you're 21+. Not out of snobbery, but it's just one less thing to worry about.

RaggedyAnn- have you tried doing a google search of clubs close to you where perhaps there may not be an age restriction?

Thanks Dax. I googled it and all the local ones are 18+ or 21+. I'm 14. No matter how many times random men in airports ask me to go drinking with them, I can't really pass for any older than 18. Could be my height or lack thereof . . . .

I feel your pain, I grew up there as well, thankfully I have moved away to school and the scene is much better here. Well not so much in Newport News because I don't ant to have to worry about getting shot, but there are plenty of places to go in Norfolk that are only about 20 min away from my apartment. I especially love going to Ghent because it is a bit more artsy and eccentric plus it is very safe (you are far more likely to be the victim of an ambush makeover than a mugging).

Question: is anyone on here familiar with the scene in the Outer Banks, North Carolina? I will be spending a lot of vacation time there (with out my family for once) and would really like to be able to explore the scene while I am there.
