I was in this so-called movement for a number of years. Pure Mind Control.
These people excell in screwing with your head. One of the most corrupt and plagerized documents ever written. Many, many people have researched extensivly about the things written in this book. All have found the information to be bogus. Many ideas and concepts written in this book were copied from other authors works.

Much of what is represented in Oahspe as original manna from heaven was taken from any number of Andrew Jackson Davis' writings. Whole texts were massaged and re-written and presented in Oahspe. Many of the so-called "science" presented there-in has also been dis-proven. Many of these were the so-called "science" of the day, but were later dis-proven by science.

Even the author, Newbrough had a very troubled past that was hidden for years. He convinced several hundred followers to sell all they had and follow him to a socialist utopia out in New Mexico in 1887. However, the group ended up suing Newbrough in court when they found out that the land and houses did not belong to them. Newbrough sold all these people into a "communal" ownership of the land and buildings. To their suprise, the property was owned by a financial backer of Newbrough's, Andrew Holland.

Over the years, many UFO and survivalist cults have sprung up based around Oahspe. Most asked the members to cut all relations with anyone who was not simpathetic with Oahspe. Even today, many people who find out that Oashspe is a "load," are branded as "enimies" by the Oahspe followers.

These cults typically use the same technics used by the Reverend Moon and the Unification Church, the Hari Krishnas, Church of God, Children of God, and the recent death cult, Heaven's Gate. They all use poor nutrition, sleep deprivation, and isolation from society to make the follower dependent on the group and the group leader.

I was in a Oahpse cult in the 1970's that was going to escape world war 3, and go in UFO ships and live on the moon. Sounds rediculous now, but after 20 solid months of sleep deprivations, poor nutrition, constant harrassment, and public humiliation by the leader, we all believed it.

Nobody paid any attention until the leader claimed to have inherited over a trillion dollars from the mafia. Everybody was going to be given credit cards to spend off this trillion dollars. All of a sudden there were over a thousand members of this group. Many people's lives were completely uprooted and destroyed by following this cult leader. People walked away from their marriages, children, homes, jobs, careers, and education.

Another Oahspe group in Northern California, a group of homosexual men were recruiting underage boys. This group gave these children LSD and seduced them sexually.

Another Oahpse group bought the property in Guyana that later became Jonestown. This group bought the property from a British Petroleum company and cleared the jungle and built the house on the property where years later over 900 people committed suicide.

Another Oahpse group in Arkansas was involved in sexual abuse of underage teenage girls.

Another group in Georgia, had one of its members die under mysterious circumstances. He was found with his skull crushed in out in the woods after someone found out he had $4,000 in cash.

Many people have been exposed to this groups acts and deeds, but have not been in contact with others until the advent of the internet.
