Thanks Molster and Scientiam. She's been improving slowly, but faster than I expected. The pain meds make her woozy like she's drunk but she's getting used to it. Her drain's supposed to get removed in the next week or so but I'm staying at her place this weekend.

Normally I refuse any kinds of meds unless I seriously need it, but if I was recuperating and wasn't required to function... Hell, I would likely neck all the pain meds and have a bed party.

...and little he knew of the things that ink may do, how it can mark a dead man's thoughts for the wonder of later years, and tell of happenings that are gone clean away, and be a voice for us out of the dark of time, and save many a fragile thing from the pounding of heavy ages; or carry to us over the rolling centuries even a song from long dead lips on forgotten hills.

So far she's healing nicely. Now she walks without difficulty but standing up from the sitting position is still a little painful for her. Her doctor approved soft foods and even then she'll eat a child's serving size, if that much. Funny enough she's been craving hot wings. Can't make love yet, (believe me, we tried) but I'm going to give her about a month's worth (or more) when she's ready XD

That's the thing, she hates ice cream and despises yogurt in any form. I have no problem getting her to eat mashed potatoes but when it comes to frozen milk she won't touch it.

What about smoothies? Now that I know how little frozen fruit costs in America I'm amazed everyone isn't gulping one down all day every day.

I brought that up but she's doubtful since the doctor and dietitian gave her strict orders regarding sugars and starch. Potatoes, re-fried beans and soups are fine. But sweeteners have to be artificial and no meats until at least the 21st when she sees her doctor. However, she did say that she would ask at the next appointment because she's also been craving fruits like cherries and berries.

They gave her that ahead of time. So far the earliest she'll get back to work is in another three weeks. It's driving her crazy being stuck at the house all day. She's definitely going stir crazy but we've been finding ways to occupy her time.

I don't know if she's into crafting, but sewing, crochet, wire jewelry, macrame are all pretty good for keeping the hands busy. I know they're not for everybody, but that's what I do for my ancy-ness. <3

What about Frozen fruit ices..as in Granita? As to occupying her time, what about adult colouring in books. They are fun (instead of tinkerbell, you colour in mandalas or parrots or some such stuff)
Also you can make smoothies from frozen oranges - it's really quite nice.
Glad to hear the surgery went well BB. Just keep reminding her that she needs to care for herself now, so she heals well.
If I'm ever sick, I'm going to hang out with Ape... Man, all of those things sound so much fun!!

Well, she spoke to her dietitian last week and fruit smoothies were approved as has all solid food as long as it doesn't contain too much sugar (less than 5 grams). She's also allowed to get back to work since it's a position that has limited physical activity. In the process she's killed several books, at least now she was able to catch up on her reading XD.
