It's a government conspiracy. You see, a long time ago, there once existed a sentient race called the "Banaroo." Upon coming to our world, they sought to make peaceful contact with the dominant life forms (ie us). A war soon came to fruition, and the purple fleshed Banaroo soon surrendered and were converted into a non-sentient form of produce called the banana. As further punishment, their skin tones were changed to yellow as it is the contrasting colour, and the colour of cowards. As for the yellows being so banana... they are poseurs.
