Not in vain

Iron and wood
with flesh in between
blood dripping down...
What does it mean?

America's Funniest Homicides
by
Kane S. Latranz

During the slow zoom, it occurs to the condemned
That theater was the preoccupation
of ancient Greece; the coliseum, the entertainment
of Rome.

That the consumers of corporate
America
have wearied
of meaning, of myth, of story, of
musical music,
and artful art.

Peals of canned laughter
His dying wish for a word
from our
sponsor.

I'm more than a little apprehensive about posting my lyrics here, as I never know whether they're any good or not. Anyway, here are a couple of songs I've written for my current band:

(This one's a little lovesick)

Streetlight:
The broken and scrawled, come to tear at my dreams,
their shivering faces, fallen in streetlight,
in the grey and the winter, where hearts start to freeze,
I lose myself in the city lights

And my love for her, has cracked the sky
But the poison oh so subtle spreads cracks behind her eyes,
And my love for here, is like ash on the tongue,
ash from a thousand lovers letters burned.

All the faces, all the people,
shiver and whisper in warpaint and streetlight,
In the grey and small hours, hearts will freeze,
I fall again in the city tonight

And my love for her, has cracked the sky
But the poison oh so subtle spreads cracks behind her eyes,
And my love for here, is like ash on the tongue,
ash from a thousand lovers letters burned.

A nice little song about murder:

Words unspoken, murmers in small hours,
our last embrace plays again and again,
cobalt madness, whispered and shrieking,
infrequent light, a dance behind the eyes.

Drink my dear, [A vial, an ending]
Flickers, nightshade [delerium sendings]
Drink my dear, [A vial, and ending]
Finality before the dawn-drenched sky

Now it's done, I'm half in love with you,
and in this grey light, fall to the other side,
Scarlet and cobalt, laughter and madness,
Belladonna close your lips on mine

Drink my dear, [A vial, an ending]
Flickers, nightshade [delerium sendings]
Drink my dear, [A vial, and ending]
Finality before the dawn-drenched sky

Belladonna close your lips on mine
Belladonna close your lips on mine
Belladonna close your lips on mine
Belladonna close your lips on mine...

Bete Noir, those were awesome! The perfect mix of darkness, mystery and description keeps the reader following, wanting to see what happens next!

Every morning

What's in the black
that I put inside me?
Unknown chemicals
tasting roasty.

Metallic cylinder
spouting hot froth!
To try and awake me
from sleep deprived sloth.

I close my eyes
and close my mind
believing my lies
that the black drink is kind.

Heartbeat race launched!
Eyes open wide!
Now with courage I'm staunch
for the day's wild ride!

I like it. Plus, I love coffee, so that makes this poem even better. Not to mention that you drink it black! ^_^

OK, this is a better emulation of your style JCC, making the mundane horrible.

Getting small

Walking through the night
avoiding snails journeys
avoiding them with fright
seeing them and learning.

My friend steps and cracks
their humble back bound homes
Terror and then death
slimy guts, and no bones.

Each home destroyed with glee
my friend wickedly smiles
I only want to flee
running many miles.

Perhaps they loomed so large
enhanced was their tragic doom
because now I'm filled with rage
that I ate those magic shrooms.

Hi I'm here for the 1st time and my grammar sux so please don't be too rough with me please

Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I close my eyes, beggin to pray,
Then tears of joy stream down my face.

And clouds on this blue sky
Suddenly went into the dark
Roses became blank
And waters all over the world got dry
And it all happened cause
WHEN I'M HAPPY
EVERYTHING ELSE IS SAD.

I like Creed too, but when you post another's words you should give them credit, so people do not think you are trying to pass it off as your own.
You should post an introduction in the Introduction thread, so you demonstrate to the community that you read the site guidelines.

Cool. I like the way "a vial and ending" will sound like "a violent ending" when yopu sing it. Good job, man.

Talking

well I might as well post it... being the poetry junkie I am. This is about some dreams my bestfriend/ ex/ 1/3 of my soul has had about me. everynight he kills off all of his bestfriends in his dreams. Its really fascinating.

Razors slice me open
ecstacy and horror merging as one
cut me to peices, wear me ragged
bathing in my blood

This is the world in which I reside
this place of terror, this dark passion play
no one can hide
you put me here and here I will stay
ready with a smile, to die
before night turns to day

pulled from the arms of angels,
you take me, leading me, dazzling me
All I can do is follow, wrapped in love
as you suck me dry, gleefully feed

This is the world in which I reside
this place of terror, this dark passion play
no one can hide
you put me here and here I will stay
ready with a smile, to die
before night turns to day

hands blackening, marking me for death
the darkness consuming
all I can do is scream scream scream
you wake up weeping

This is the world in which I reside
this place of terror, this dark passion play
no one can hide
you put me here and here I will stay
ready with a smile, to die
before night turns to day

wirling through the ballroom, skirts and coat tails fly
All smiles and laughter, it's you I adore
pull me close, then spin me in the air
break the swans neck, lie the goddess on the floor

This is the world in which I reside
this place of terror, this dark passion play
no one can hide
you put me here and here I will stay
ready with a smile, to die
before night turns to day

Watch my loves die, be ravaged and *****
nothing I can do, though I want to save them
cold lusting eyes turn to me
I drown in his filthy pleasure, hating him

This is the world in which I reside
this place of terror, this dark passion play
no one can hide
you put me here and here I will stay
ready with a smile, to die
before night turns to day

Shadow on my leash
my vicious beast
he is never far
my intellect he'd mar.

Side by side
swimming in the school
don't provoke my mood
or you'll become my food.

Swimming up to light
to avoid the fight
but darkness pulls
upward flight is lulled.

Threatened mechanical fins
wears my patience, thinned
power engaged
unleashed, enraged.

A moment breaks
a looks all it takes
animals not minds
our violence entwined.

Take my hand and come this way,
Come look beyond the light.
See the starry depths below,
The eternal abyssal night.
I'm ready to leave,
I'm ready to go.
I'm ready to face the stars...
I'm ready to know the mysteries of suns,
But not of the seas below.

The saturated soil I trudge upon seems to be ready to accept and produce new life. I make my way along to the ostentacious monuments, remembrances carved to cover the plethora of faux-pauxs of these people, their decomposing bodies seeming to almost reflect their mortal personalities. One must wonder how easy it is to be remembered after all... What the ultimate evil must be in order to lose this privelege. The gnarled roots are already splitting the stones, some even reflecting the great schisms created by some of these heartless men, surely no flowers here from visitors. Seems like a formidible punishment, does it not?

"Can you gallop?"
Nay with a neigh
I do so say
I move no faster than a scallop

"Then try a canter"
No! you know;
I will not do so
No matter how you banter

"Well why refuse to trot?"
Simply Sir Dregs
I am a horse without legs

....

I got bored...

I've been out of the gloom for awhile and trodding places where the Sith cringe ... meaning, I've been sick, and working, and mentally unbalanced.

And I've not been at GNet, obviously.

But I have written a few poems ... none of them good ... all of them predictable. Here's something that a "Goth" site might appreciate.

six feet of indifferent dirt

once the journey ends on your Enlightenment Road trek
your solitary soul has a crisis Cross to suffer before

that long and sweet deep sleep.

one option is to surrender to the kinds of daily lonesomeness
endured by yellow buttercups shuddering in the north wind as they
smile at joys which never were,
while clinging to the hope of a long parched well in the Dakota Badlands.

in such places life mingles with a cold kind of death;

and your soul freezes like an abandoned gas tanker lost and broken beneath the numb stars of lands haunted by tribal Cheyenne ghosts.

or you can face a different kind of daily lonesomeness akin to the
strangled, croaking voices roving the faceless big city streets like robotic
rejects clawing zealous through the shambles of pipes and shadows searching for the ephemeral promise of true friendship beneath bullet gray skies.

in such places death mingles with a cold kind of life;

and your soul tanks … hardened, haunted, and abandoned amidst the star crossed skid row ghosts, themselves gassed and frozen numb and broken.

either way you must greet doom smiling my friend, because...
...all loneliness is swiftly swallowed by six feet of indifferent dirt be it in

Grand Forks, Lhasa, Rome, Mecca,

or New York City.

anyone who suggests that loneliness is cured by garrulous crowds ponders a
fate less perilous then they should before one more fleeting night

of swift and bittersweet sleep.

Simple Poet, you have once again bestowed upon us glorious articulation of your verbal paintings! Magnificent. I liked in particular "beneath bullet gray skies". Such colors you use in conveying your vision! Even the title in a few strokes evokes philosophy and resignation. Your distilled expression is like strong cognac, heady and to be sipped and savored! Thanks, and post more will ya?

Thanks for the kind responses ... HP, Corpsey.

I wish I could crank out poetry like water from a faucet, but if a poem doesn't excite me at the end as it did when I tried writing the beginning; I tend to abandon the effort into a "compost for a future attempt".

In other words, I scrap the idea to maybe use it later. And since I am so hard on my own work, I seldom write much. But I promise, at the very least, I will try to particpate more in this thread of well esteemed patrons of the noble craft of verse.

Oh, my illusional charm
Do not fall away from my palm
Dangle beneath my flowing life.
Shimmer your golden pawn into my heart.
Cast away this impurity that burdens me from above.
Shun this false idol from my light,
I need this clarity, Oh please.

Sweet saviour, be gone this darkened throne of he
Cast out his snakes and vile to the pit
Send me to the clouds of glory
Oh how I love to see your heart in pure glee
Tis' a victory
