| Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I know this is a rather old thread, but I just wanted to say that I saw them in concert this past Friday, and they were AWESOME!! =D Also got a sampling of a new cool band called Dommin, and one screamo band [that neither I nor my husband enjoyed] called I Am Ghost.

Why haven't I posted in this thread yet? Birthday Massacre is great. Well, a bit of a guilty pleasure for me as apparently I have to go around telling anyone who'll listen that I'm 100% industrial or some shit like that.

I saw them live and met them last October and they were great. I do prefer their earlier albums, but their whole vibe really inspires creativity. In me, at least. Chibi's evil voice is awesome; I love the juxtaposition between her sweet vocals and her growls.

I wanted to like them. I illegally downloaded several of their songs, but I only liked the original Blue of which I was drawn to in the first place.

Heh heh. I have to agree with you on the evil voice thing. XD I didn't realize they were both her until I saw them in concert!

Considering they're the first industrial band I ever listened to [besides NIN, but who's counting?] yes, I do like them a lot, even though I'm waaay more into metal than anything else.

Their early stuff is OK. And yes, Genesis owns all.

I really like The Birthday Massacre. I've met Chibi a couple times; the radio station I used to work at actually brought them in for a concert a couple years ago. Stylistically, I wouldn't classify them as goth or industrial. I would say they play a type of synth rock with a heavy 80's vibe. They're probably associated with the goth scene so much because they're signed to Metropolis Records. But seeing as how popular they are in the goth scene, it doesn't really bother me that they're classified as goth or industrial.
