If you look for it just be sure you don't get the newer one that has a clown in it, its supposed to be uber stupid and ridiculous and has nothing to do with the original Carnival Of Souls.

I like supernatural vs. monsters - I hate the Friday the 13th genre and slasher movies in gerneral. Give me ghosts, creatures from beyond, vampires (not the pretty boy Twilight vampire) and other such creatures of the night. If I wanted crazed, diaobolical, sociopaths I would watch political debates on C-Span or the conservative pundits on Fox news.

Okay, thanks for the tip. I imdb-ed it to be sure. I reckon it's this.

I agree. A lot of 'horror' movies are rife with 'edge-of-your-seat' moments and then boom you end up with nothing or rather boring and unoriginal effects. I prefer the ones that aren't too obvious, more of suggestive and then you think about it a few minutes or after the movie and the chills just start coming. The latest I remember getting this from was in Let the Right One In, specifically in the swimming pool scene where Oscar was forced underwater by that bully and suddenly there were shoes getting dragged across the pool. I didn't get it at first- probably because I was talking with someone at that point- but I was just staring there and I realized later on what was happening and I just shivered at the realization of what Eli was doing in the surface. And the head subsequently falling into the water was helpful, too :s.

YES I mean the Boris Karloff one. It completely and utterly BUTCHERED the novel. IT WAS ABOUT SOCIETY TRYING TO PLAY GOD AND NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SHITSTORMS THEY UNLEASH, AND ABOUT HOW SOCIETY IS QUICK TO JUDGE WITHOUT BASIS.

The creature Dr. Frankenstein creates is intelligent, he talks, he thinks, he feels abandoned by his maker, rejected by society. Only after he is scorned for his kindness because of his looks time after time does he let all hell break loose and start taking revenge on Dr. Frankenstein.
Dr. Frankenstein is the true monster abandoning him and being a horrible person that the creature sees as a father.

IT IS NOT ABOUT SOME LEVIATHAN DESTROYING TOWNS PEOPLE!

I curse James Whale, Carl Laemmle Jr, Peggy Webling, John L. Balderston. Francis Edward Faragoh, Garrett Fort, and everyone else who had to do with writing that abomination of a movie.
I was pretty disappointed when I finally sat down and watched it, too. Not only was it nothing like the book but pretty also dull.

You know what I find funny about Karloff? He is famous for his monster roles, but last year I sat down to watch The Fatal Hour, couldn't believe it was him. It was more of a detective movie than a horror flick, mind you, but he was just so classy and intelligent. Poor guy got his talent wasted, he could have pulled off the intelligent creature.

BTW, Schazmyrrh, let me know what you think about Carnival Of Souls. I never managed to get anyone else to watch it before so I never got a second opinion on it ^_^

Gladly. I'll hunt that movie down once I have time (...in quaaludes and red wine...) in my hands.
