Hmm.
I've only seen three of them in real life. Doesn't bother me all that much. They may think I look stupid, I may think they look stupid, it's not really terribly important. I've never seen one in a club I go to though. I read alot of hypocrisy here. I agree, no fashion comes from nowhere, and no ideas, either. Emo borrows elements from goth, goth borrows elements from punk, victorian and medievil styles, so what? It's not an exact science.

I'm not even a homophbe to that extent, its just no way in hell would I let a friend or a future son wear girls pants elton john glasses and loud freakish shirts and a crappy wig/nasty hair extensions that way.

Sorry if I offended anybody, but its just TOO creepy.

Dear, you ARE a homophobe. You are a homophobe and a racist, and I have no idea what you're doing calling yourself a "goth". Too feminine? Why don't you talk to Mana-sama about "too feminine". He is one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen, and he's more femme than I am.

"Goth" has long been a subculture of acceptance. Do you ever wonder why we're the subculture that embraces RHPS? Open your mind, man. We accept GLBTQ people. That means Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning people. Yes, transgender.

By the way, I wear plastic-rimmed glasses (one might even call them "emo"), and I don't see anything particularly Elton John about them. That's kind of like looking at any goth girl and saying she looks like Morticia Addams, just because she dresses in black. It's easy to generalize if you're ignorant and uninformed.

You know, I joke about the label "emo" all the time, but most of you honestly believe emo is what society tells you it is. NO! Emo is NOT about guys wearing girls pants or cutting. It's not about any of this, these things have somehow simply become trendy and things to do for attention. I just wrote an attack on the use of "emo" in another thread, I didn't think I would have to do it again.

Yeah, I saw it. And I agree with you mostly. Emo in itself wouldn't be the the bad thing, but the people that populate it, just as there are more mallgoths than eldergoths.
Emo has become a synonym to me for all those kids around here who want to feel special by being "different", so they all enter the same clique as long as it's not "mainstream".
I have seen the sociological weakness of most of these kids (which is why I abhor overall teens mucho more so than emos), because they literally changed all their self-identity to become part of the scene.
I have a friend that only is thirteen years old, and her little group of friend were just, you could call it, normal but a year ago. Now, they all draw those crappy drawings without eyes, they all want blood because "it's cool", they listen to "old school" because it is old school, and one of them has recently gone to the hospital for trying to kill himself, which made a domino effect of all of them wanting to kill themselves.
Idiots all!
But, again, I would be just as comfortable calling them another term and leaving the Emo name alone.

Spirited girl I actually kinda like you... dispite the fact you judge me (and incorrectly at that)
I have NO clue where you got the idea that I'm racist... but those remarks need to stop now.

The emo thing was a joke.... to be honest I've never seen an Emo in person... hell I've only met TWO goths in my entire life. I live in a city where if someone has a mohawk people STOP and stare. People here are boring, dull and all the freaking same. I said in my other response that everyone here is a homophobe.... I am NOT but I still have the "crowd mentality" from haning out with my friends.... All my friends were the type to poke fun of certain steriotypes and I reluctantly tagged along. Why? Because people like YOU always breathed down my face and made me feel bad if I didnt have the same views as them.

What the hell did I do to deserve being bashed anyway? I made one post about Emos and one post about racism (that was originally in good faith til you started calling me racist... for starting an anti racism thread) the emo thing was a joke... and I used BLATENT steriotypes within it.... You're the one judging ME... and I have done nothing to deserve it.

On another note... I love the internet for one reason -- it brings people together and lets me talk with people I'd have no other way of knowing. I have friends online from all walks of life. Friends from many countries, all races, and yes... gay, T, and some people who dont even fit in ANY definition of normal.... (though sadly many of my valued friends have been lost to the ravages of time).

One side note:
Ever hear of Jaye Davidson? How many people know who he is... or his weird story of life almost ending up dead in some gutter somewhere and becoming one of the most successful and popular androgenous actors that has ever existed. Hell I idolize the guy because he does what he wants as he wants and he didnt follow another persons rules to do it -- and he's had success most people can never imagine. Its people like you who finger point that were the reason I never found myself in school... people like you who make people resent themselves and fear society. People like you who think they are doing the best they can by calling people out... when all you're really doing is the same thing you're trying to stop.

Dont think for one minute that you know me, or know just how much I suffer inside... nor how much I need the friendship of those who stray from social norms.... I seek out unique people BECAUSE they are different and willing to defy society to find themselves. Sure I poke fun of things that are weird to me -- usually in bad taste, but I'm from Wisconsin I cant exactly be perfect when it comes to being PC, nor would I wish to be perfectly PC - being PC all the time is not advancing society at all, its mutually destructive as it leads to a loss of the great character society has within it.

I have NO clue what set you off, maybe I just picked a bad day to poke fun of emos? No matter - put it back in the bag... get to know me before you snap such stupid remarks as "racist" and "homophobe". It just makes you hate me before you even get to know me....

In this great social expariment we call society people like me dont even fit in among misfits... I dont need any more stress from judgemental people. I like these forums a lot, but screw this. I dont need to take crap from people who dont even know me. I didnt do one thing to piss anybody off yet I'm being snapped at and now I'm really saddened. I dont know how old you are but PLEASE get to know me before you use harsh comments like that. I really dont need any more sadness and stress over acceptance.

DDR = cool. When I actually had time I was playing DDR way too much (at a local pool hall, not at home, though I do have a metal home pad (really REALLY old now and needs repairs). Anyway... man I'd get home drenched in sweat. Burned lots of calories doing that stuff. I never got that good though, I only beat one 10 foot song ever - BAG... and that song is a cop out of a 10 footer. Havent played in ages now.... :-/ all my friends that play are either off at college or live out of town now. (And oddly I was one of the people who got my friends into it) Strange how that works sometimes.

Weird how that works with cascading suicide attempts.... Society is very harsh these days *eyes the forum suspiciously* and kids really arent forgiving of themselves. Instead of trying to find themselves they try to find a crowd (thats part of our nature ... to socialize and be group oriented) So when one friend tumbles out of the "insert any "group" based on image here" dryer onto the hard concrete floor of normalcy... they lose it. Most kids have vivid imaginations... many of them follow that into a "scene" and when they lose sight of that or they fall from that scene they cant face reality. Those around them that are friends either fall back into the "scene" and really lose themselves or end up finding their own way out of the tumbler... ending up back in reality... again, a reality most kids arent capable of accepting.

Bottom line ... image is like a drug... its fine until you get addicted to it. Once you're hooked it controls your life. If you can no longer afford/fit into the habbit, it may just take you for a ride to the dumpster.

Wanna know the worst part?
Those kids I know are middle-classed with no problems (except a couple have divorced parents).
I have actually thought that if I'll take sociology in college, I might make a little research about the circular effect of society by studying these guys.
In the suspicious eye to us; it's not going to change anything around here.
