This is a most interesting, if not typical thread. And hi, by the way, I've been watching this site for a number of years, just popping in to add my two cents.

I run a site with a forum, and I find people like Kaz most interesting.

Kaz, your overall attitude appears, from this thread, to be 'hi, I'm new, and I'll be judging all of you from here on in, and by the way, you don't have any right to retaliate and I might not like you.

You say hi, looks kinda cool. People reply, say hi back, welcome. The questions are intended to incite discussion, then during this you blurt out 'I didn't realize that there's mostly under 21's and Americans on here!!! :P'

To the initiated this means 'ooh, people here way too opinionated and intelligent for my liking, I'm out of here'.

Well, Kaz, newflash, yes, people other than yourself have an opinion. From then on when people try and reiterate that you are welcome, you say 'oh, you seem cool' or 'oh yeah you seem nice' and 'oh you are an ok kind of girl'. Judgemental. Who died and made you god? No one here is really enticed by your judgement of them.

Then its conflict, right the way to this post. Which leads me to ask;

Why, with this thing we call the internet, don't you just shrug and move along? You can't just tip-up someplace, say hi, make some comment about under-21s and Americans and then be surprised that you 'were pretty pissed off about how YOU were spoken to'

To qualify my disproval of you; I've been dating an American for four years. they are not retards, there isn't this 'language barrier' you imagine and we have a very similar sense of humor.

So, did everyone here pass your rude experiment? I'm sure they're all enriched for the experience. Much.

I had heard about this discussion board and wanted to check it out. I have been proved right. I was told that there was a group of people on here who were very insulting to new members.
I think that most of you actually must get off on insulting and trying to put people down.

Is this board run by moderators as I haven't been barred yet. Other forums would have done so.

People, relax. This isn't the first member to act high-and-mighty. Anyone remember om3GAGoth? It's just another one of those people that isn't mature enough to survive a little criticism.

And Kaz, the mods are very absent here because of... I can't really get into it; that'd get me banned (a grave injustice, I know).

People on these boards are only insulting to new members if they're assholes (i.e. overreacting, insulting, not following the rules, not taking the time to spell words), it's things like that which piss off the members here. We will not let everything slide by as if it never happened. We're not the kind of people to bow down in acquiescence in lieu of others' stupidity.

Of course we like to play the occuser on baby bats, but our subculture is something we have to defend from further becoming a trend.

Oh, a DM smack is when you're playing D&D and you do something asstarded so the DM, or Dungeon Master takes points away from you, or otherwise penalizes you.
