Quite true. I'm glad someone finally gets what I mean. Even my friends look a little worried when I say, "I'm kind of depressed, let's hang out in graveyards." Then I desperately have to explain why I like them, and even then they look confused.

I have to say, just telling your parents about it is a lot better than being suspected of something like cutting yourself.

And, the only reason I can think of that your mom would give you the 'swearing is bad' talk is if you have a -very- religious family.

Also, having something written on your arm seems like a pretty odd assault to me. I mean, not to say they should have done worse...but it seems like bullies are more likely to beat you up, threaten to beat you up, take your lunch money, write such things on a more visible part of the body like your forehead, and that sort of thing..

There's a difference between appreciating a cemetery, and dealing with the death of a loved one.

I for one -love- cemeteries, and take pictures of them whenever I can. However, losing my mom a couple of years ago was one of the worst experiences I've ever had [and I've had a lot of bad experiences.]

There is nothing romantic about grieving the loss of a loved one. It's very painful, very emotionally draining, and, in some cases, can drive people to clinical depression. [Note: Clinical Depression and Artistic Sadness are NOT the same thing.]

I hope this doesn't come across as an attack or anything, because that's not how I mean it, but...please consider what I've said here. Death can be darkly romantic to think about, write about, read or watch about...but when it comes to your family or your close friends, it doesn't feel the same at all..

Tell people what happened. In highschool I had two boys harass me at random for over a year. I did not know their names, only their faces, and they would attack me either when I was alone or in a crowded busy hallway. I had things thrown at me, was verbally assaulted and grabbed once.

If it happens again, memorize their faces, clothing, bookbags and try to to find out what classes they go to so you can identify them and report them.

(Hey, permanent marker depends. I've had club x's last for a few days.)

Well then you need to meet some of the people I know. Believe it or not, not all goths think they are better, in fact you are the only one that I keep hearing who says that.

The kids that loath and self harm are not a good representitive of the people I am reffering too. I have friends of all sorts of subcultures, and I would hate to think that I would actually miss out on knowing them if I thought I was too good to be their friend. I did myself a favour when I got off the high horse, so to speak.

Not to be entirely rude (for once in my life anyway), but do you always take yourself so seriously? I too am of the train of thought that you're not always better than everyone just because you can match your blacks, but just calm down. I know this is goth we're talking about here and there's always going to be a degree of serious pretension by default but chill the smeg out.

You should repeat to yourself "It's just a subculture, I should really just relax."

Actually, I don't care about the subculture itself. I get peeved at the attitude. And yes, I take it seriously when people discriminate others, I mean if that isn't serious then what is?

What you kinda fail to realize is that I couldn't give two rolling rimjobs about what subculture someone belongs to, if any.

I know what I like. If I don't share your interests or you don't share mine, we probably wont be chatting much. Too bad. I guess I'm an aweful person for not digging on Blue October or whatever. But hey, "emo" just isn't my speed.

It was a joke, mmkay? Based on the tons of pictures circulating the net of emos saying "I'm so depressed!", which incidently, in the 90's was goths on the pictures instead of emo's. Admittedly it backfired, my bad.
