I got my new hire packet from Verizon.

Fed-Ex came. The guy knocked and left the envelope leaning against the door. In the time it took me to respond to the knock and walk quickly to the door, he was already in the parking lot climbing back into his vehicle!

Anyway, I'm working through the 30 page full-sized "code of business conduct" manual. I'm going to have to take a computer quiz on this Monday. I have forms to fill out. I have benefits pre-enrollment to complete online. I have an intellectual property agreement to understand and agree to. I have a post offer voluntary survey to complete.

It's good to be employed!

Xng, do you have to pretend to pay attention?

Cause if not, I would be all over a crossword puzzle, mp3 player, video game ... anything to pass the time.

But, yeah, selecting a class that ends up being a rehash of things you already know ... well, that definitely sucks!

Can I recommend the following distractions?

You're welcome. I think some of the hardest things in life for me to be patient with are when I have to hurry up and wait for other people to be instructed and digest something I have fully assimilated already.

I was not patient for most of my primary and secondary education. I wish I had developed more patience at that time, as I might have gone on to college then.

I like ramen ... but I'm picky. I get the Maruchan brand, in the creamy chicken flavor. If you drain most of the water off before mixing in the seasoning package, it makes a delicious creamy sauce.

EDIT: Actually, I'm eating carrots and pretzels and dreaming of ramen!

Maruchan is all I eat too.. and only chicken flavor drained. (not creamy chicken though.. I was scared to try that)

Oh, try the creamy chicken flavor! Try it, try it!

What, you afraid you might waste nine cents?

You know what's funny? I talk to my online friends more than I do my friends in real life. I have more conversations via IM/phone with someone who are thousands of miles away rather than someone who is maybe a 5-15 minute drive away. It's kind of weird, but still good.

And oddly enough my online friends get me more than my friends that have known me for years. I guess it's funny how things turn out.

I love my online friends.

My dog Bella has this weird bump on her tummy. My mom said that it mayb be left over fat that the vet had to remove, I'm not really sure.

I think it's hurting her cause she yelped when I rubbed her belly and touched it. I called the vet and they said they can see her today. I have no idea what the fuck that thing is but I'm scared.

She had a hernia a while back it maybe related to that.....fuck I don't know what I'm talking about......

*Cry

My dog had that too Eyes, and if it's the same thing you have nothing to worry about it's only a fatty deposit and it will go away eventually.

I hope it's nothing. I'd rather feel really fucking stupid for getting all weepy and shit than have it be something bad. It freaks me out cause my first dog out of nowhere got sick and tired because he started having seizures and eventually died. And it still fucking hurts.

Eyes, go get her checked out, hun. No sense in worrying when you don't know anything, yet. Get her to the vet and let the expert diagnose it. I've seen that kind of thing before, and there's a good chance that what Sanctus has described is the case here.

Mobile devices making impact on Digital Divide

Internet experts are saying that the falling prices of laptops, more computers in public areas and the latest generation of Internet-enabled mobile phones and handheld devices are helping to close the digital divide. According to a Pew Internet & American Life Project national survey of people 18 and older completed in February, 74 percent of whites go online, 61 percent of African-Americans do and 80 percent of English-speaking Hispanic-Americans report using the Internet. The survey didn't address non-English-speaking Hispanics, who some experts believe are not gaining access to the Internet in large numbers.
