Good-bye Gnet. You have brought me much joy.

DAMMIT!!! This is what trading all my couch time for a job has led to; I have too little free time to keep up with posts here. I wish I hadn't missed this when it happened.
--------------
Tenet,
If you come back to read this, please know that I think the world of you. I got emotionally invested in you in a way that I have not done for anyone else here. I worried about you when you went missing for a few days and agonized about the stresses and tragedies that your family, life complications and travel requirements threw your way. I was genuinely excited when you reached Elder Goth, and was hoping I'd see you hit Andrew Eldritch here. (funny, I now notice that I actually missed when that happened ... was it when I was on vacation? Hmm ...)
I am SO going to miss you. I knew the time would come when you would have to go away ... I just kept hoping it wouldn't be soon. What's the line from the old CCR song? ... "Someday never comes." I guess a part of my mind thought if I kept thinking positive thoughts about you, that someday would never come.
I am genuinely sorry to think that you will never be back. The thought of a Gnet without Tenet is hard to digest. It's like the restuarant that I'm accustomed to going to had changed the recipe of my favorite dish ... taken one ingredient out .. and now it's just alright. Disappointing. You, my friend, with your splendid witt and finely honed sarcasm, as well as your very unique and tremendously important point of view, cannot be replaced here. And I cannot stress enough how pleased I was to know you thought enough of me to send me pictures of BOOBIES! No one else here has done that!
I am gonna miss you like crazy. I don't know what you're going to do now or where you are going to go or for how long. But I hope you aren't retiring from writing entirely. I know you might not feel motivated or energized enough to put thoughts to keyboard and bare your soul on the internet, but if you can do so at all, I would like to encourage it. I believe that you can do some good in the world yet, and if your words could educate one lost or confused or misinformed person, it's a worthwhile effort.
I'm not a religious person, as I think you know by now, but I will concede this in the interest of hedging my bets. If there is a higher power out there, I hope it guides your footsteps. You may be leaving Gnet, but you will not be leaving my thoughts or memories.
Farewell and fare well, my friend,
Ben

Since I have absolutely nothing to do, I'm doing my English homework right now. At 1:23 AM!

I was just informed that, if you type in "paranormal emu" on Google and hit "I'm Feeling Lucky," my Elfwood page shows up. It does! Crazyness! I'm the #1 listing for something on Google!

That's just.....bah, I really will miss you, I guess I'm getting pretty stale on these boards too.
I think I might leave because Tenet was one reason I stayed.

Demonista,
So many people have been leaving lately that it's not surprising that people reacted that way to your comment. I understand their reaction.
I also understand your comment.
Look at it this way ... this should just tell you how beloved you are here. I'll add my name to the list of people who would seriously miss your presence here.
My letter to Tenet included the analogy about the restuarant screwing up my favorite dish by removing an ingrediant. The same would apply if you left. Your attitude, humor and viewpoint are so unique that you are irreplaceable. So joking about leaving does raise some feelings in people here, and that is a good thing ... it means you really have impressed and impacted people in a lasting and meaningful way here.
As for the unique and endearing people who have left ...
"There's a hole in my heart,
That can only be filled by you,
And this hole in my heart,
Can't be filled with the things I do"
from "Hole Hearted" by Extreme.

In here to report - the marathon is over. Something like 10.000 to 20.000 crazy people (ok, add one crazy) have struggled to the finishing line.
I struggled to see my brotha in the masses ;-) Boy, did I run miles and miles just to spot him... Pretty tired now.

MORON OF THE WEEK - from www.thisistrue.com:
An unnamed 17-year-old boy stealing gasoline from a car in Gillette, Wyo., managed to spray some on his clothes. It was 3:00 a.m., so he couldn't see how bad the damage was. His only available light: a cigarette lighter.
Sure enough, he managed to set himself on fire. To add irony to injury, the car was owned by a firefighter. To add insult to injury, the boy claimed to police that he was attacked at a local gas station called "Common Cents", but investigators quickly got the truth out of him, and charged him and a 16-year-old accomplice with theft. (Gillette News-Record)
...Since they could immediately tell the kids didn't have a lick of common "cents".

Tax Definition
Now that we've passed the tax deadline this previous Monday, and everyone should have filed their tax forms (or at least their extension requests), I want to share this definition with you.
Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
