Swans are amazing. Shame they're not a Punk band or they'd belong in this thread.

No Wave was influenced quite heavily by Punk, but No Wave is Punk in the same way that Black Sabbath are Blues.

That's because the Ramones are shallow little shits who sold punk as a fashion statement.

Formed in 1974, though. =/
Was punk even established, yet?
EDIT: I meant Punk culture, not music. The music was there already.

Punk culture was established between 1974 and 1977.
As for their forming in 1974, the Sex Pistols formed in 1972 so the Ramones can suck my throbbing punk rock cock.

The Sex Pistols evolved from The Strand, a London band formed in 1973 with Steve Jones on vocals, Paul Cook on drums, and Wally Nightingale on guitar. Early line-ups of The Strand—sometimes known as The Swankers—also included Jim Mackin on organ and Stephen Hayes (and later, briefly, Del Noones) on bass
O'Shea, Mick, "The Early Days of the Sex Pistols: "Only Anarchists Are Pretty"", Helter Skelter Publishing (2004), p. 29. ISBN 1-900924-93-5.
They also released the first punk album. Before you tell me the Ramones did, I'm telling you that their first album was not punk. I refuse to let an album who's songs include a song about kids having sex in cars, a song about sniffing glue, a song called I wanna be your boyfriend, and a song called Listen to my Heart as a punk album.
That's a bullshit love rock album at best.

The Ramones evolved from a Garage band formed in '66. And there's a difference between a punk and an anarchist punk.

I know. Punk was about rebellion. Punk is anti-establishment. It doesn't have to be anarchy, it can just be you being angry with the way things are run. Love songs and pining over girls is NOT fucking PUNK. Being completely unable to play your instruments does not qualify you being punk, or 50 cent would be fucking punk, he can't even spell instruments.

What about "Havana Affair", "Beat on the Brat", "Judy is a Punk", "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World" (about Nazism), "Chainsaw", and "Blitzkrieg Bop"?

I would add Penetration to the list. On a side note I thought the Dropkick Murphys Do or Die was more punk than sing loud sing proud.

It is.
But Sing Loud, Sing Proud is better.
As for this The Ramones aren't Punk shit: doesn't matter, they were still good, though I think they were Punk.

These are too many CD mentions to be an actual compilation of essential punk CDs.
Also, The Ramones were punk the same way Blink 182 is punk.

And it's as punk as any Blink 182 album.
