Haha, pure genius!
I should visit this thread mor often.
This ballad is a little long, but it's faster if you find the rythm.
The white little playful bright light
The man had sailed in his small raft
The time almost dawn but not quite
When in the lake he set to rest
And a second after, a light
The small light quickly faded away
Darkness like the world of the blind
“I wonder what that light was about
And illusion or trick of my mind”
The second day the man had sailed
Again to his favorite lake
Not a minute after he closed his eyes
A white light had set him awake
“Could it have been the same white light?
That white light from yesterday’s dawn
But again I fail to see it again
Where oh where has it withdrawn?”
The third dawn was now coming in
He sailed to the lake once again
But this time not to sleep or rest
But to find out from where the light came
“I know you’re here my little friend
From whence do you come little light?
I have not met a more bothersome fiend
Than you, little frisky white sprite”
And as a summon the white light appeared
It came not from the eastern fens
It came from the center of the lake
Out of the water in mist like incense
“My playful paled little white light friend
Why is it you must in here wallow?
With that pale white little brilliant light
That mesmerizes my senses to follow”
And the brilliant pale little white bright light
Faded in the lake once more
And the man had promised to his own self
To follow the light on day four
The fourth dawn was near and the man had set sail
Ambitious to find and to follow the light
Before it dissolves in its refuge, the lake
Before it dissolves and falls out of his sight
And as in summon the light had appeared
Right in the middle of its home the lake
Before dissolving down into the lake
The man knew haste he must have to make
Swimming further and further deep down
The man had lost no trace of his playful friend
But the lake was deeper than he was hoping
Yet he would go deeper and never ascend
Darkness enwrapped him deep down in the lake
When fatigue was too much for the man to fight
He sank deeper and deeper into the lake
And the last thing he’ll ever see will be a light.
A light through a tunnel, a light in the lake
It certainly must have been the same white light
At the end of the tunnel named meaningless life
That will bring us to an outside world at night

EDIT: The last line in the second stanza reads "An illusion or trick of my mind"

The End is Near
The end is near, so let it be here
So close, too soon
The end is near
Frightened are we? So agitated are we?
Why not so gusty, once who was brave
Where is the gallant hero I once knew?
Burning buildings, perilous villains
You know who
Stand up my barbarous one
Thou cannot be a coward
The end is near, are you ready?
Now take armor, thou sharpen sword.
Heart of a thousand kings, soul of eternal harmony
Never shed a tear, so now the end is here.

The One
Another one:
Floating away, light as a feather
Ketch me afar, put me into your pocket
Hold me tight; descry me and my beauteous sight
Never let me go, stay here so be there
Soft as silk, eyes of relucent diamonds
I've dreamed your dreams; I've lived your fantasies
I am the One, your One
The One you fought and strived for
I am truly yours
So exotic am I?
One of a kind, you yearn for me so.
You've longed to be loved and accepted
Worry no more, you will never be rejected.
Floating away, light as a feather
Hold me tight, thou love me forever.

I once was good at poetry,
but now I must work at rhymes.
The words have failed in my mind
in the maelstrom of my whines.
Why does this have to be?
I could rhyme all day and suddenly;
the words falter and halt and tumble
and my tongue slips and fumbles
on such simplistic rhyming.
*I once wrote a wonderful two page poem, in first person of some evil demonic thing that was going to massacre everyone horribly. Ending with the thing being a textbook. Nobody in Enriched English got it. So much for the advanced class when only the teacher cracks up. I must search for it!

Jillian, that ballad was sheer brilliance as usual.
The light reminded me of a will o' wisp. Is that what you had in mind while writing the poem?

Haven't thought of a title yet:
Alluring hues of untimely Bliss
Such a grim history you behold
Countless reflections of bewildered passion,
Your thorns continue to shield
A fairytale you are sure to promise,
Yet you cheatingly wilt in the end.
Such a timid weapon you often thrust,
a river of consequence runs boldly
To some who fall timid to your chance,
you paint an oath surly to spring.
Your exotic promise of triumph leads disciples to the prey,
The visions of a thief beam lustful
A heart of a maiden lay wilted in the herd
An ancient spell you've mastered,
never will you flee merciful
A lovely cluster you may come,
binded by a fortune.
Her naive euphoria glees with purpose,
no sign of the coming.
Like a jackal in a herd,
she lays for a cause.
Her flower she has given,
"I am the only one."
A song of victory you bellow to the deceiver,
she lay bluffed in a tear.
Another odyssey of false devotion,
No such cure is in the making.
Yet another ancient spell you have mastered,
you seed another to the coming.
Your maiden awaits.
A promise of forever...
a rose you have become.

::EDIT::
I changed the end a bit:
Her flower she has now offered,
With a shadow of regret.
A song of victory you bellow,
she lay bluffed in a tear.
Another odyssey of false devotion,
No such cure is in the final
Yet another ancient spell you have mastered,
a vow to wilt is in the same.
you seed another to it's coming.
Your maiden then awaits.
For a promise of forever...
Yet another rose you have now become.

The Sands of Time
And the winds blow hard
Tearing at my flesh
Carrying bits of dust and sand
Getting in my nose, my mouth, my eyes
The sand has already covered my feet
Slowly it builds
Higher, higher, higher yet
Not trying at all, but succeeding nonetheless
And yet I stand here
Watching, waiting
Knowing the inevitable
But not caring
There is no rational reason to fight fate
The sand is up to my neck
My friends are long since gone
And as the sand covers the top of my head
I realize that I have been forgotten

I love the poem's concept, a creative way to describe life and "going downhill." Very nice NME.
I decided to contribute to the emo rage, here's another poem. I'm also experimenting with rhyming.
The Beast
She taunts her tale of hardship,
assuming they would adore.
Feeding the phony twinge,
that gashes at her remorse.
Genuine she often protests,
claiming her custom poise.
Unaware of the flocks before her,
that preach a similar noise.
A tear drips from nowhere,
flavored with a stretch.
Flaunting the flee so typically,
with a dotty regret.
Neglect the one's who devote,
for they do not perceive.
A solo term you serve,
no eye to meet the glee.
A declaration of defeat,
you sulk to the end.
Sealed reflections of harmony,
lay forsaken in the trend.

Thank you. But it really wasn't a "downhill" poem. It was about being forgetten after death. Sooner or later, everyone is forgetten. Even if the name remains, the person is gone.
In any case, here's another. (Now, THIS one is a "downhill" poem.)
No Hope
Within this nonexistent reality
I sit
I think
I fall slowly into my insanity
My fingernails now dig into soft clay
The malleable substance which was once granite
Once a rock as unshakable as the coming dawn
But things change
My grip on the solidity of the rational is now shattered
Slowly, excruciatingly, I fall into the abyss of lonely depression
My only life-line gone
Pushed away by myself as only a true idiot can do
I fall, I fall, engulfed by the despairing darkness, I fall
I'm gone
I'm no one
I'm sorry
Oops... Too Late

Metal pipes and rubber tires
Crushed glass and tangled wires
Broken boards and battered parts
Twisted springs and shattered hearts.
Across this graveyard requim plays
Beyond this fence lies yonder ways
Beneath this grey sky, brown Earth old
Lies the remnants of my soul.

Silent is the barren land
That cruel Fate scars
Littered with abandoned memories
Rain cannot wash away the pain
But in the light of the moon
They glisten.

Here, Nowhere
Middle of the night
2:30, to be exact
People drive up and down the avenue
But there's no one here
There's a Monster in my hand
Keeping me awake, but not sharp
A truck rolls by, grabbing my attention
But it's just passing through
As am I
It knows where it is going
Do I?
I wish I knew
Thinking on it, I do know where I am going
I'm going right here
I'm going nowhere

With And Without You
I am still, as yet,
To know your touch,
To know your presence,
But I know your voice.
I know it better today
(or worse)
As I have heard it
Ring through hollow thoughts.
Softly said "…I don't love you, Anne."
A day spent sitting,
Staring out of my window.
A window that,
If fate were kind,
Would hold your reflection
Next to mine.
My Angel, Gabriel
for Tracey
I've found her.
She speaks to me in ways that I've not heard.
She feeds my soul with her quiet words,
Whispered silences that echo in hungry ears.
Sating my appetites, she nourishes my needs
And I thrive at the soft sigh of her voice.
Communion is mine.
The breath of the Goddess is on my skin.
Her spirit filled words tantalise my mind,
Tempting me with holiness and
God-breathed promises of wholeness.
I offer only the gentle whisper of a prayer.

This one is not finished just yet, but thisis what I have so far =)
End of infnity
At the end of infinity, a city does stand,
built from eternity and paradoxal sands,
at this city he does wait,
till time repeats and replicates,
at this city all ends begin,
forever balanced on the edge of a pin.
In the arms of obourous, chaos does fly,
possibiliys held in the apple of its eye,
In the wings of the phoinix, order does lie,
in hopes embrace it will never die,
The gas masked god, the top hatted lord,
wielder of the eternity sword,
Wielder of the infnity key,
opener of all doors that stand before he.
At the end of days, and the begging of another,
he will stand, sit, and lay.
For whatever one says,
he is the night, and he is the day.

Delicate_Torture: Holy crap! Those are so expressive; Excellent work.
Puppet Master: Reflective and Surreal; it reminds me of David Tibet's writing, actually. Good work.

One of my coffee shop stand-up and scream it poems:
Bleak Humanity
Glorious One'
Why so captious with life?
Is change the only resort?
Count thy words, justify the meaning
Fate is the only solution, my pessimistic being.
Come to me by acknowledgment, sing your tune of unsatisfaction
Just spill out the cure, we are waiting
You claim to be the only way out
Can you point us the direction?
Where can I wash my hands of villainy?
May I seek his remission?
One' of so many resolutions
I ask in favor, why am I here?
To seek the answer of humanity...or to lay down my bleak soul of false righteousness
One'
I ask once more.
Why am I still here?

Delicate_Torture, "My Angel, Gabriel" is very inspiring. Finally something with a positive tone.

Here's a little ballad that I've been working on, it's a bit more enlightening than my others.
I Once Knew A Lad
I once knew a lad who had a prize in his hand,
who possessed a skill for victory.
A clear path he kept, no barriers to blockade,
No fate to seep into bitchery.
A tone of purpose he spoke,
"the way" he often beheld,
An ideal pupil of God,
A white cape he knowingly held.
No maiden he ever lusted,
His mother was a saint,
Revenge was washed with forgiveness,
His brother he would never taint.
On a trusted day he woke,
a cold reminder spoke,
"A life fully lived, is purity really so promising?"
Hidden branches of doubt, breed eagerly atop the devout,
a thirsty desire builds slowly,
His bloody cape deemed unholy.
Purity has escaped,
defeated by a call,
"God seems so trivial,"
he debates in a brawl.
A continuous path he kept,
he lay meaningless in the gray,
with no hope for any regret.
A maiden he has lusted,
Yet a child of a saint,
Forgiveness turns to revenge,
His brother he has slaved.
On an empty day he awakes,
a warm reminder speaks,
"A life so fully lived, is purity really so promising?"
Hidden branches of doubt, breed eagerly into devout,
a thirsty desire for change,
His white cape he quickly engages.
Purity has invaded,
introduced by a call.
"God seems to meaningful,"
he cheers in a ball.
A continuous path he kept,
he stands with a purpose,
with no hope of regret.
I once knew a lad who had a prize in his hand,
who possessed a skill for victory.
A clear path he kept, no barriers to blockade,
No fate to seep into misery.

Very nice, Born Again. Just wanted to make a quick poem before I faint due to sleep deprivation
Futile Struggle
My faltering body illuminated by moonlight,
Engaged in its struggle against death
Laying still in its ultimate fight.
Struggling to survive breath by breath,
Imprisoned between heaven and hell
My very life escapes before my very eyes.
I must succumb to death's inevitable knell.
Sweet is the sound if not for my murderer's cruel surprise
Of having immortal blood, without soul.
Now I am both death and life,
Over them I have control.
Yet I am cursed to exist in strife
As I must damn the existence of others
To prolong my very own.

Here's a little lyric I recorded and mixed the other day. It was inspired by Peter Murphy roughly quoting "Goths today are the costume without the brains".
"Modern Gothic"
I see the man on television
telling me what I'm supposed to believe
about what it means
to be unique
I see the children
out in the fields searching for a box to fly
the one they find
belongs to me
But they take the box
and rip it all apart
until only one lone
section remains
drawing blank faces
living off echoes
but this box
is all I have left
in a world born flat
(chorus instrumental)
I pass their mocking faces
in the street with other mocking faces
but when they reach out
it burns my own
my soul could see
my tired eyes perched upon the mantle
above the chamber-door
in acceptance I speak
shall my blood run with
as many shining eyes again or shall my
trembling sanity
destroy me...
(chorus) nevermore!
I'm not in love with modern society
I'm not in love with high civilization
I can't relate to over half the people-
-on this godforsaken earth
Can I find peace in masks
and ghosts x2

Hello! I'm back again. I'm really glad that you brought back the poetry thread Corpsey. It was a great idea and I thank you!
This is a peom that I've had for a long time and I believe I posted it before in the old poetry thread ( which was sadly deleted ). It's not the best poem ever but I thought I'd put it in to see what I could improve on and what others thought of it. This is called, "To Dream Forever More."
Once upon a darkend time
where morning glorys bloom,
we sat beneath the angel eye's,
amongst the virgin moon.
And once upon a heartfelt time
in darkness barried deep,
we gentley kissed the sun goodbye
and welcomed stars to sleep.
Raindrops were are lullabye
as arms entwined we slept.
Hearing their sweet melody
and callming beat we dreamt.
We layed the night before us
and as we gently cupped the stars,
we adorned our bodies with their light
to cover up our scars.
The tears began to fall
as we suddenly embraced,
and we danced away the suffering
from all that we had faced.
We shall never wake to see the light
or wake to see the day.
We shall sleep in the valley of eternity
and live to fade away.
Never to awaken,
we sleep forever more
and forget the past we once had owned,
the past that is no more.
So, any comments or constructive critisism?
