Jill: You yourself have said your folks are loaded, and I'm pretty sure you've posted about considering law school. I do apologize if I've gotten something wrong.

I'd say it's borderline, I'm exaggerating to emphasize a point.

No I didn't. In fact you have been the only one to ever claim that I am somehow rich, to which I actually responded already and asked you where you got that.
Obviously it's another example of how you DO have to invent accusations, only this one is a little sadder than you "Jillian speaks like Yoda if you literally rearrange his sentences" because you actually believe it.
As for Law school, I abandoned that option two years ago; try to keep up.

Tell me Jill, Gothicus, why would I "invent" reasons not to like people? That's ridiculous. If I had to invent a reason to think you were a dumbass, I wouldn't think you were a dumbass in the first place.
Once again, my apologies for messing up on a few details.
Also: You do type like Yoda.

I never get used to your bullshit assertions with no bases.
"You do type like Yoda" Prove it. Last time, as I just said, you fucking rearranged my posts and THEN accused me of talking like Yoda. That's idiotic.
And what's with that ridiculous circular logic you're trying to pass as a legitimate argument? "Oh yeah? I don't invent reasons to deride you, because if I had to invent them, I wouldn't be inventing them, therefore I don't invent them."

No thanks Jill, we've already had that discussion.
And my critique of you, even if I was incorrect on a few points, is not baseless. You're obviously privileged, and you're jumping straight from one privileged environment where the system takes care of you into another, and the whole time you're repeating that you believe the very system which is protecting you and providing for you is corrupt beyond repair. Am I missing something here? Are you going to tell me that's not hypocritical?
You know what, don't bother. If you can't even concede that sometimes you phrase things rather oddly, (with hilarious results) you're certainly not going to entertain that idea, and this thread is already hitting it's drama capacity.

Actually no, I can't see how it's hypocritical. As mainly a producer rather than a consumer in my household, I fail to see how I am a leech that's just sucking on the system I complain about.
On the other hand, you can say that I'm more privileged than most other people in the world, just in the same manner that you're more privileged than most Mexicans. What of it? If you were born in privilege and you see how unfair this is you can't do anything about it? It seems fucking stupid to me. By that same logic, were white men that opposed slavery hypocrites?

The white men who were against slavery actually did stuff about it.
You don't do anything about it. You talk about it. You form little knitting circles to talk about it. You're on your way to a career where you'll probably get paid to talk about it. Tell me, are you going to make sure you never work in a state school? I mean, if you believe that the United States Government is corrupted beyond repair are you going to be okay taking money from them? What about a private school? I mean, then you're directly benefitting from a capitalist system.
I don't have any problem with you becoming an educator, I think it's a noble profession. I'm in no way advocating that you become militant, but from the views I've seen you express, you should be out in Iran trying to spark a Marxist revolution, or in Central America or something. You shouldn't be sitting around preaching veganism to other privileged kids in one of the most privileged nations in the world. That's just giving them the ability to look away from real hardship. The ability to soothe their own first-world guilt, and pretend that they're actually contributing to a better world by abstaining from cheese and butter while half a world away someone is getting killed for their clothing. You're giving yourself license to look away from real injustice by combating minor or imagined injustice in a land where you are perfectly safe and will never have to sacrifice for your beliefs.

So you're telling me that all your pissiness at me is based around the fact that I don't talk to you about every single action we do around here, huh?
I can't help but smile at that. I make a conscious decision of not talking about actions online, because that would be stupid. You can believe what you will then, because I don't need to prove anything, but it does give me comfort to knwo that if you came to Juarez and hung out with me you'd be saying "holy shit, I was wrong, sorry for being such a dick about it"

My pissiness towards you is based around the fact that more often than not you act like a humorless dick.
I will say that I have a hard time believing you're actually engaging in anti-government activities in Mexico. Throwing a couple of bricks at a rally isn't being a revolutionary, and judging by what you post on Gnet, and how often you post on Gnet...but what the hell, Helpmann was wrong about me, I suppose I could be wrong about you.
Well anyway, the fucked up thing is that I think we probably would get along IRL. I'm not quite sure why but I do have that feeling.

All right, I suppose I misunderstood you then, though I maintain that understanding you would have been quite a feat. I admit I sometimes I do go over my posts and change a word or two to a more sophisticated alternative, but it's usually for the sake of either humor or clarity. I don't see this as a big problem.

Honestly Gothicus, I don't see why you have any reason to take issue with me. I have no beef with you, but you're casting your lot with the Stooges over here because of what? Seniority? Because you think I'm arrogant? I assure you my friend I'm not arrogant, I just know a fucking waste of oxygen when I see one.
|
I don't see why you perceive me to be on the side of 'stooges', or anyone save myself for that matter. If Jillian or JCC insulted you in a way I felt was completely unfair and groundless, you can be certain I would defend you. You suggested that the only contrast between your remarks to Needlefeet and others you made recently is that the targets of the latter are 'popular', and I replied that there is another difference, in that your mockery of Needlefeet for being an idiot is justified, and your mockery of Jillian for, say, founding a socialist club is not.
I don't take issue with you per se, I think you're all right. If pressed, I'd have to say I like you over less 'controversial' members such as Jack_The_Knife or Joker_in_the_Pack. That view is one I have expressed to, and on which I have definitely been contested by, those you call 'stooges'. I just think you say stupid shit sometimes, and have been experiencing a spike lately.

I wouldn't say it's a big problem, it's just a little weird from time to time.

Right. Well maybe I was mistaken. Though I think I was perfectly justified in mocking Jillian's club. Founding a club to save the world from the evils of tyranny and immediately quibbling over the logo is some funny shit.

Please post the link where you ordered those, honeythorn! I have had a terrible time with round lens shades as they are always too narrow for my broad skull, and those look like they are actually wide enough, as on you the ear pieces are actually inclined inward instead of outward (as all of mine are).

Once more, why would I be talking of anything bigger here? You guys don't live here; you guys shouldn't have any say on the objectives of the club as it helps in local issues. Any further talk of the club would have been ego stroking. Why you would want that, I have no fucking idea.

Despanan :"Going about his usual Despananery ( thinking he's better than everyone )."
Jillian :"I'm better than Despanan."
Despanan:"No, I'm better than Despanan, Oh wait, I'm Despanan, that proves how great I am."
Jillian :"You suck!!!"
Despanan :"You suck more!!!"
You can see where I'm going with this, come on, it's getting kind of childish....
