If the knife is heated until it glows a dull red, then it would close the wound by cauterizing it.
And Persephone is right. Run away from that guy. And look on the ground for a brick. Just in case.

Yeah, I was going to answer about heating it too. But, that's the only way I know to close a wound using a knife >_> And then it just makes a nasty new wound.
