I wised up after being in a domestically violent marriage for 12 years and realized that it is NOT totally selfish to LIVE FOR MYSELF once in a while and I don't have to make myself crazy running around doing for everyone else and being the ultimate "people-pleaser". Seriously. I spent a lot of my life "doing for others" which is FINE but I did it to "make up for" or "atone" for bad things that I was ashamed of that I did in my youth. I found that some people won't be happy with you no matter WHAT you do for them and that's that.
