What's with the weird influx of mallgoths? Vampirefreaks run out of room?

Generic chugga chugga metal guitars aren't too appealing to me, but they had some sub decent lyrics..........wait, no no, I got nothing gooda bout them.

Yeah... no. I don't really like metal. I know it isn't fair because there are some fine musicians in metal, but no. Not my thing. Either that or I might develop a weird crush on a metal band every now and then where I listen to their music for the lulz.

System of a Down are not metal. They're in that same ambiguous "uh?" genre with Slipknot that's not quite good enough to be considered avantgarde.

Also, just sort of elitism bleeding out here, I always kind of laugh whenever people say things like "I just don't like x genre." You would if you heard the right bands, and especially when it comes to metal. Iron Maiden and Giant Squid both being a part of that should more than explain the tremendously wide reach the genre has.

However, Ten Masked Men are 100% lulz. Nothing like a death metal cover of "Gangster's Paradise" to get the crvnk flowing.

Okay fine. I don't follow metal. Therefore I can logically deduce that I don't like it. What I've heard thus far has not been entertaining. Unless it is funny. Dethklok anyone? Also, I'm slightly partial to Blind Guardian and Dream Theater. But I don't think DT qualifies as metal.

Actually, Dream Theater do qualify as metal. If you like them, check out Lalu. More of the same, but good.

I used to listen to metal, mainly sludge, doom, drone and thrash about 4 years, but I only listen to Slayer and Sunn O))) now.

I only posted that in response to Kontan's observation of the influx of Mallgoth into gothnet. Listening to System doesn't make one a mallgoth, and if it did, I'd rather be a mallgoth/scenester than a goth that only listened to one or two genres of music.

I don't care for genre. I listen to music.

In no particular order:
Lamb of God
Cradle of Filth
Dimmu Borgir
Bullet for my Valentine
Machine Head
HIM
The Cruxshadows
Dream Theater

It's more than five but meh.
As you can see I don't have a very Goth orientated musical taste. I like the stuff, but it's not my favourite. I prefer metal *headbangs* \,,/

Further proof that Cruxshadows are utter mallgoth tripe.

Cruxshadows are well above the general mallgoth stuff. They're easily the best band on that list anyway.

I really like the "Gothic Rock, Post Punk, Deathrock" or any other genre band's that I've learnt of from here such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, The Cruxshadows, Alien Sex Fiend etc. but I don't want to say that they're my favourites. They're great bands that's for sure. They're quickly becoming favourites. I don't wanna call em that because in my view, to be a favourite band, you should know something about them, it's kind of stupid to say "Oh the Cruxshadows are pretty awesome, do you remember when so and so did blah blah on that tour?" or something and you're like.. uhh yeah?
I don't know how to explain it.
I understand HIM, Cradle of Filth and some others are considered Mallgoth, but I like Cradle of Filth's lyrics, musical tones and the type of music it is. I love HIM because of it's love inspired lyrics. I DO like lovesongs... If you can believe that.

The point I'm trying to get across is I love Gothic Rock bands, but they're not my favourite as I have only heard of the ones I have about.. 1-2 months ago. I will probably grow to like them more, if I don't, I don't.
