Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Howl - Florence and the Machine.
Because that's how fucking goth I am.
And, because I'm at work and have already gotten in trouble for playing too much Abney Park this morning.

There is an Australian artist called Tom Dickins, and he has made a cover of Something I Can Never Have as a 'reward' for my contribution to his crowd funded album... everyone who contributed over a certain amount got to choose a song for him to cover.
Quote:
This week's video has been the most challenging, ambitious and exciting. It is "Something I Can Never Have" by Nine Inch Nails. In approaching it I attempted a few things, to make it my own. A slow uke version? A jazzy guitar version. No. Not for a Trent Reznor song. It just sounds WRONG. So instead -- in an effort to better get to know my studio equipment and piano, I aurally pulled the song apart, and figured out a way to approximate each segment, then sowed it back together.
At the same time, Ange took footage of each step of the process and edited together a proper, multi-angle video of it. I LOVE IT -- here it is!
Massive, huge thanks to Absynthe Shiels for requesting this wicked, wicked song.

I'm listening to it obsessively and fangrrrling all over the place.
It's quite tragic, actually.
