i have lots of "best bands"... it depends which genre and era we are speaking of. ^Skinny Puppy is great! i love them! as far as industrial goes, i'd have to say Front Line Assembly. Bill Leib is a fucking genius! my favorite band of all time though (personal opinion) is AFI. if i could only listen to one band's music for the rest of my life it would be theirs. i would be so extremely content.

Well, it's not the best band ever but it's my favorite: Opeth.
I don't think much people around here enjoy Opeth, well yes it's progressive metal ( although sometimes it also features some death metal ) and the average music is 10 minutes long but it's so worth listening to it.
Other bands I usually listen to and enjoy are Dimmu Borgir ( I start thinking this is quite the most known/mainstream band in the heavy metal/black metal area ), Slipknot, System of Down...and some others.

was browsing the net and thought I'd put me 2cents in on this poll. Happy to see young people ( or at least younger than me) liking Joy Division.Anyone who likes them should give a listen to Interpol.Bauhaus fans should check out Daniel Ash's "Tones On Tail". Killing Joke is another 80's band you may like.Nirvana got the guitar riff to "come as you are" from their song "Living in the 80's"...I skimed over the replies quickly, but didn't notice any fans of Johnny Rottens Sex Pistols or P.I.L....

oh my god, one band? Its so hard!! I have like twenty. I definitley love Siouxsie and the Banshees, and AFI, and Sisters of Mercy. Joy division is kick ass, and so is Bauhaus. I like Dead Poetic, Skinny Puppy, Tears for Fears, and Alkaline Trio. When I fall into an "I love all the emo kids" mood I listen to Bright Eyes, but that doesnt usually last all that long. The Cult is pretty good. I could kill Marilyn Manson and not even care that I had to spend my entire life in jail. Hes an insul to counterculture

Firstly, Manson is not goth.
Secondly, he doesn't label himself as such.
Finally, his music isn't even near "goth".
How is he an insult to "goth"?

Marilyn Manson is an insult to goth because so many of the little scene children who know nothing love him because he wears black lipstick. Havnt you heard? That makes you super cool

Seriously, the guy is probably sick of hearing his name associated with "goth". Give the guy a break. It only provokes more teeny manson lover gothic wannabes.

Well... I like evanescence, slipknot, the cure, seether, system of a down, my chemical romance (I only like 1 of their songs), AC/DC (that's decent rock...), and a lot more. I also like linkin' park. I couldn't decide... well... no. The cure for sure.

In my opinion, they are one of the most relentless classic Rock 'N' Roll bands ever.
They're all about the music.

I enjoy Opeth. It's probably a lot closer to "goth" stuff in it's atmosphere than a lot of metal bands.

Rosie, Opeth's music is yummy on the ears but I prefer Anathema and Dream Theatre more.

As for Skinny Puppy, I think their an "ok" band. There's not much hype for my liking. I get sick of their songs too easily. I once thought that their cover of the song "Tainted Love" was somewhat awesome, but after listening it a few times, it's quite horrible.

The best band to ever exist would have to be a tie for me. I would have to say Glenn Danzig era Misfits or Christian Death.Oh, and Joy Division...so that would make it three.
