I just got a $500(!) raise at work... which means that as soon as Apple releases a new Mac Pro, I'll buy one since now I can afford one and still have food on the plate. Oh, happy days.

At my school, they've started counting you as tardy if they find you chewing gum. 3 tardies = an unexcused absence.

Damn.Here for the first tardy you get a warning,2nd one day lunch clean up,3rd week lunch clean up,4th one day iss,5th week iss,6th one day oss,7th week oss,8th you don't go to prom,9th you get your parking pass taken.Now this sucks.

We get ISS and lunch cleanup just for having our shirts un-tucked here. One time last year the principle sent like 5 people home for having their shirts untucked... don't know what that was.

In our school ... The only punishment is calling your parents xD
I wasn't a trouble maker, i was peaceful and not social,. But once we had this huge fight between two girls, one pulled a knife and stabbed the other in her head (not too deep, but she still needed stitches) and then the girl with the knife grabbed the other's head and started banging it by the edge of a step (concrete step)
The girl with the knife went to jail for a couple of days, she wasn't kicked out of school but they didn't allow her to come (she only did her finalS and exams, we have no marks on attending)

Nobody every really gets expelled here, they just get put on furlong (what you described with only doing finals and exams) and a bunch of people that the administration said they "expelled" came back this year. I was so pissed.

The new series of Ugly Betty tonight is the only thing keeping me sane.
As you are probably not aware, I am now in the Lower Sixth Form. With this new authority also comes responsibility, this time in the form of my very own title of 'Form Prefect'. Fine so far.
I first acquainted myself with my form of sweet and well behaved first years (aged 11) on Monday. They were in silence, and working hard. The biggest incident I had to deal with was a child asking where Spanish club was held.
Today, Friday, I had my third wet break spent with these outstanding examples of polite, young people. I don't know what went wrong. I got rugby tackled into a door. Rabbited at by about 15 small boys, all needing the toilet at the exact same time. None of them gave a flying fuck about my responsibility over them, or my new found 'authority'. I had to get my friend to physically push them away from the door and tell them to shut up and sit down. Ech.
Now I've decided the only fair way around it is to let none of them out of the form room at all. Unless there's a fire or something. Supposedly I'm now allowed to make them write 'educational essays'. They still have no respect for me though.
I tried to be kind to them, as I would have wished when I was that age. I hate teachers who act like school's the army. But now I understand their problem. I just feel saddened I have to be so strict to them. It's not what anybody wants.
