MEGA THREAD for Cats
Here's a thread for us all to discuss anything and everything relating to cats, including: - Favourite cat breeds
- Cats that you or someone else owns
- Ways to care for a cat
- Cat mating
- Anything else relating to these adorable felines =^^=
To start off the thread, I own a tortoiseshell shorthair cat named Turnip. She's turning 11 in 3 months.
When I move out of my parent's house and live in an apartment of my own, I'm planning to get a munchkin cat. For those of you who don't know what munchkin cats look like, they have abnormally short legs, like this one:
http://lengslog.files.wordpress.com/...4/munchkin.jpg
Seems like the ideal indoor cat.

Ahh! It's like a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, but a cat!
A word of warning about abnormally short legged quadrupeds: going up and down stairs puts extra pressure on their spines and they can end up with expensive back problems. My family's Corgi ended up with an ulcerated disc in his spine and the surgery to fix it cost thousands of dollars.
Anyway, I love cats but can't keep any right now.

Yay! I can talk about my kitties!
This is my current cat, Lucy: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ater/lucy2.jpg
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...water/lucy.jpg
My roommate picked her up from the SPCA, she was left at the doorstep in a box with her kittens. She was skinny as a rake when we got her, and she didn't like being held or being petted for the longest time, we think she might have been abused but she's coming around now, she loves being petted but she doesn't like cuddling. She seems to get bored easily since we keep her inside, we're THINKING about getting another one, one because we love cats and two because we're not always home and it would be good for her to have company, but two cats in an apartment might be a bit much.....and I'd like to get a adult boy cat, I dunno how'd they get along....
And this is the cat I had since I was little, he died four years ago:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ater/Chang.jpg
He crawled up inside a van and got cut up by the fanbelt, he had to get several surgeries on his face, his leg and later had to have his ear removed. That was five years before he died, he was fat for a siamnese and had a heart attack one night. I miss him, he'd follow me around everywhere and cry if I was out of sight.

I don't have any pictures but I have one old fat manx cat and one young fat tabby. Both are males and are at this moment annoying me by swatting at my legs, which I accidentally spilled catnip on. It's the unholy time of 12:50 and I'm getting really cranky.

Awww, cats... *miss my dear Rafael, who stayed behind with my family when I moved*
We used to be breeders of Persian white shaded silver longhairs and exotics. I really miss them now that I´m down here. I´ll see if I can dig up a picture of Rafael, who´s the male that we kept after realising our small apartment just wasn´t functional as a kitty nurse central.

There is a thread called cats, and i asked this question but no one answered
Is it normal for a kitten's eyes to water so much? Feels like it's crying sometimes

Nope, bleedingheart344 knows fluent German though, and I only know a wee bit. I was talking to him on MSN and demanded a translation so other people can understand his ramblings. ^^

I like cats so much better than dogs. Dogs just seem, well, so stupid. Whereas cats tend to have a very nice attitude, IMO.

I now have a happier attitude towards my cats as the catnip has worn off and I am fully awake. My kitties are so cute. My manx is 16 years old (I know, it's shocking but we have the record to prove it) and my tabby is 11. Both are male, and neutered... ouch... and every morning I wake up with a fluffy orange turban curled around my head purring.

I had an adorable cat called Hobo, who was the cutest tabby imaginable. White paws, white chest, white face a big black stripe down his spine with grey and black stripes shooting off there. I'll see if I can find pictures of him but we don't have him anymore; although I'm trying to convince my mother to take him back now that they've settled.
I miss him. He hada great purring engine that he used only for me.

Some fucker decapitated my cat. I just found her body, minus the head. They probably took the head as some kind of fucked up wall decoration. I'd love to know who did it - I think they could persuade me to break with my principles about violence.

Because some people need to shit on something defenseless in order to validate their worthless existence, and don't have the stones to do it to anything which might stand a chance in a fair fight. I know I'll never find out who it was, but I've had many satisfying fantasies involving pain heaped upon those involved.

Holy fuck reading that made me feel sick . That's seriously the most awful cat-loss story I've ever heard.
I'll write about my 6 cats some other time. It'll take me a while to type it, I have waaaaay too much to say about them (crazy cat lady in the making).

I have a BBC (British Black Colorpoint). They're a cross between a black Persian and a seal-point Siamese. They're mellow, funny, occasionally cantankerous and extremely smart. For example, my 'furry' bud actually puts himself in time-out when he does something naughty. He will usually go in the bathroom and sit in the corner, facing the wall. This behaviour usually precedes a knock on the door, invariably coupled with, "Your d****** cat just ______" (fill in the blank). But, as the say in the Army, 'forewarned is forearmed.'
