Leon Trotsky's ashes baked in cookies.
An anarchist group in Mexico is claiming to have stolen the remains of Leon Trotsky from his mausoleum and baked them in cookies to celebrate the anniversary of Trotsky's suppression of the anarchist movement some eighty or so years ago, and then sent them to Trotskyist groups. I don't know whether this is true, but if it is, it is hilarious.
Quote:
Eighty eight years of the day Trotsky directed the suppression of the anarchist uprising in Krondstadt, a group of bandits scaled the walls of his former house in Mexico City during the late hours at night. We broke the lock on his mausoleum and we expropriate the content inside it: a silver large vase that bears the inscription of his name, wrapped in the red scarf that he carried around the neck, containing the ashes of the corpse inside. We replace with care the lock in the monument with a reproduction that was similar in the appearance and escaped into the night.
The vase along with its content then was taken far away to a place where the vase was discarded and the content (a combination of ash and bone) were baked in cookies. These cookies then were sent, along with a letter that explains our actions, to newspapers, to organizations of Trotskyists, and to the groups of anarchist around the world.
While we will not repeat everything of our full letter, briefly we propose to give new light to the idea that history does not end with the past and still a small group of bandits can give new direction to fights thought long to be frozen in the time. We want to expand the fight to include dead objects of the past that hold hostage us in the present.
Nevertheless, if Trotsky is right about the history, we do not determine anything, but we are only characters whose actions were written in the revolution of October. As was his destiny, coincidentally, to come to be a cookie.
The ones that receive these cookies have a decision. Through time, the act to consume enemies have been seen as a way to absorb their powers. On the other hand, consuming the body and the blood of the dead person as a sacrament have also been a form of worship. We would want to indicate that, at any rate, the result is always shit.
For those a little delicate, we have tried them, and although they be a little sandy, they are delicious. The green dots, by the way, they are just candies.

Fuck, I'd have some if I wasn't vegan. This does, however, give the media a pretty good case for depicting anarchists as loonies once again, after all, they did just bake a corpse in a cookie.

As a baker, I'm concerned about the effects the ashes had on the cookies..Did they just add it in, or did they substitute some ashes for flour?
And the taste! They must taste dreadful..Unless they made a whole bunch, and just added a teensy weensy bit.
Something dense and chocolaty would probably have been a better choice. Like Brownies. Trotsky brownies.

Heh heh. That's awesome. XD
I'm tempted to put that in my will. "And, after the cremation, ye shall bake my ashes into [insert tasty baked treat here], and thou shalt consume it with milk."

I don't see corpse desecration advancing any causes. A rather inane act that many would see as disrespectful.

Trotsky made some of the most important additions to Marxist action.
These anarchists are angry at Trotsky's antagonism to anarchists, not at their brutal repression. These were times where propaganda of the deed was the manner anarchists conducted their actions. Anyone in any place in the political spectrum would kill if it somehow helped their ideology.

I'll probably have my ashes spread out over the ocean or something cheesy like that.
Jillian: If it makes you feel better, I seriously doubt that they actually stole his ashes and made cookies out of them.

Tam, wills aren't written in a painfully poor approximation of "Olde Englishe".

The repression of anarchists under the Bolshevik government goes back far further back than the Kronstadt rebellion or any other uprising against the state, individual or otherwise, such as the Cheka repression of anarchists in Petrograd in 1918, which Trotsky was directly part of, as well as the arrests, imprisonments and executions of thousands of suspected anti-Bolshevik political figures on the left in mid-1918. Trotsky was an authoritarian despot who helped to nurture the absurd notion of right-wing socialism and repress the peasantry that he claimed to be fighting for, as well as the executions and indefinite imprisonments that followed the repression of said peasantry; what's defensible about the Bolshevik actions? The reaction to anarchist individual terrorism (I think that propaganda of the deed is an almost totally futile gesture, by the by) was that of any violent, totalitarian government trying to retain power, it has no legitimacy. Trotsky's actions as part of the Bolshevik government are entirely reprehensible, the Kronstadt uprising is simply a tiny piece of that larger puzzle and it's baffling that you're trying to defend him when it's obvious that he was a cunt.
Also, why have you got this weird notion that they're angry about Trotsky teasing anarchists rather than angry for the reasons that they give? I don't see why they'd lie about their motivations.

I'm reasonably confident that his plan to commit murder was motivated by some desire other than to 'help' a philosophy that condemns murder.

The point is that most people who kill for political reasons do so in the name of peace.

....I think I want Trotsky brownines. o.o
It is a little macabre. Just a wee bit.
Like the time my friend opened a box in her mum's bedroom and found the ashes of her mum's ex husband....who she poisoned with oleander....and my friend, in all her insanity, suggested that we smoke them. But I was a little concerned about, you know....going to hell for smoking a dead guy.....
lol.
