There's no need to be afraid of wild animals - leave them be and they'll just ignore you. And generally on African safaris you stay inside a vehicle and the animals barely notice you're there.
Beautiful pictures, Dancing_in_rain. It's good to see someone who appreciates travel, and Africa truly is a magical place... there's no better way to see wildlife since it's just so abundant. I'll try to post my pictures from Kenya if I can find the damn things (taken in 1999, so they're not digital).
In the meantime here are some photos of my more recent travels:
A roadside slaughterhouse in Azerbaijan, Jan 2007
Myself in Baku, Azerbaijan
The village of Arabba, Italy (where I spent last Christmas)
My sister and I in Verona, Italy
And some wildlife photos from my visit to Alaska last year...
Seals
A squirrel
Bald eagles
A sea otter
A breaching humpback
And a bear.

Aww Humane you look so cute. You look like you could be Hawaiian, minus the hugeness.

Haha! Hawaiian? That is the first time I have heard THAT!
Usually people pick up that I am mostly Mexican or even Vietnamese, or Filipino.
(I am half Mexican, one quarter French and one quarter German. Oh, and one fifteenth Lesbian as disorder and Pyre will attest.)

Lesbian? So, I guess that means you're from Romania, huh? HA!

Chicago!
OK, these are a little boring for some of you who are used to metropolitan living, but it may be interesting for some:
The Hilton Hotel in downtown Chicago where I stayed for three days:
http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r...28-2007015.jpg
The hotel lobby. Everything in Chicago is artsy-fartsy:

Typical scene walking down the sidewalk, the trains are everywhere!

Typical scene driving:

Beautiful statue in Grant Park across the street from my hotel:

As I am walking towards the Chicago Art Institute I came across public chess games:

http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r...28-2007027.jpg
Finally I arrive at the institute:

Gigantic lion outside the museum:

The original Vincent van Gogh self portrait:
http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r...28-2007032.jpg
An amazing portrait of Jesus, he actually looks happy! I really like it:

There are just way too many photos; original Serauts, Degas, Picassos, Chinese statues from 700 B.C., just too many for me to post here. An amazing three hours I spent there!

Oh you lucky, lucky man! The Chicago Art Institute is a wonderful place. I saw the Monet exhibit there. His paintings are HUGE! I was surprised since all you get to see in everyday life are poster and wall art size.
Was three hours enough or was there still more you would have liked to have seen?

i sure wish I had the money for traveling. I hardly get around lately... it even makes me wonder whether the rest of the world exists at all.....
Here are a few photos of Halle, Germany from last summer. I'll be going there this summer too.
I called the place "Halloween Town". All the houses there are completely fucked up but still beautiful and have this atmosphere of Halloween that you see in all the movies...
house
The central place is gorgeous. I've found only one pic of it where there is some strange fat guy in an orange shirt in the middle....

Then I was in a town near by....it was absolutely disturbing. There was this HUGE HUGE jail looking building looming up from below. The rest of the village consisted of cute little cottages. Surreal kindof.
here
But I got over the surprise:

If you meant Halle, then YES you most certainly DO. It is gorgeous. Whole quarters of the town are full of run down houses where no one lives. And in the midst of these quarters they have free open air concerts and parades and whatnot.....AT NIGHT. I loved it there so much.
Only problem with Germans is that they SIT at rock conserts. You have 2 head bangers, one drunk wierdo and the rest JUST SITTING THERE. That freaked me out more than any run down house could.

That would rock. No need to fix it up though...I like it just as fucked up as it is. And mind you, that place is almost right in the center of the town. We could all just move to Halle, each take a run down mansion and turn the place into Goth Town. It's got great potential

Hey folks! Dealing with a flight delay and a missed connection can be a traveler's nightmare, but fear not! I stumbled upon a fantastic resource that sheds light on what to do in such situations: the article ' flight delayed missed connection' on Hindustan Times. From personal experience, I know how stressful it can be when your flight is delayed, causing you to miss your connecting flight. But after reading this article, I felt much more prepared to handle such scenarios in the future. One key takeaway I gleaned from the article is the importance of staying informed and proactive. It's crucial to keep an eye on flight status updates and reach out to airline staff for assistance as soon as possible. They can often provide guidance on rebooking options and may even offer accommodations if needed. Another valuable tip I learned is to know my rights as a passenger. Airlines have certain obligations to passengers in the event of flight delays and missed connections, such as providing meals, accommodations, and rebooking assistance when necessary.
