"The Maven" (inspired by, well, you know)
Started playing with words a while back and hit upon a neat idea, a modern play on a classic poem to see what I could get away with. I want to do the entire thing, but I want to make it right. So, for your humble praise or incited anger, here's how it begins:
"The Maven"
Once upon a midnight query, while I pondered Googling "dreary,"
Over many a novel and comic book strewn 'cross my bedroom floor--
While I frowned, nearly vexed, suddenly there came a text,
As of some one gently Tweeting, Tweeting thoughts unseen before,
"Tis some marketer," I muttered, "checking in on Square of Four,
Only this and nothing more."
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the fall September,
With a new school year’s homework assignments next to the clothes I wore.
Terribly I dreaded tomorrow;--textbooks I had sought to borrow
Lost from my library in sorrow--volumes I could not explore--
For the rare and important textbooks that the teachers did implore--
Useless now for evermore.

Should I keep going or cut my losses and run?
