My acquisition of friends is fairly organic. I don't exactly look for qualities, but that they just don't display BAD ones as easily as the next asshole. I'm not cliquy basically. I would imagine most decent people are like this.

I don't think anybody actually goes out of their way to choose friends O.o
For most , friends tend to arrive in their own time. You get to know people through work, other friends, day to day life ect. You start to hang out or go places, get to know eachother better, you get to know friends of your new friends, and there you go, the process starts again.
Sometimes you end up knowing someone who turns out to be an asshole, in which case fuck them off and forget about them.
I have a few close friends whom I've known since I was a small child. We went to the same schools and have always been friends. Two of them are getting married next month, one to a guy we went to school with who is also a good mate. Some of my friends are people I used to work with in a restaurant for 6 years. We still go out and have a laugh every now and then. There are others I know from forums like this, and the Steampunk forum. That's where I met my boyfriend in fact.
Like most I prefer people I have things in common with, who I can have a laugh with, and go out and enjoy myself with, knowing we'll all have a good time and great memories .

When people want to be my friend they have to fill out a form, then pass a psychological exam, write an essay on why they want to be my friend, fill out another form, come in for an interview, give character references, and then they get to be a friend but have a three month probationary period during which I can rescind my friendship without any notice.
The dating process is even more bureaucratic. You use a MLA format or thats a dealbreaker, gentlemen.

I have known people desperate enough to be my friend that they would've done that if I had asked them.

I go to a densely populated area, extend my arm in front of me, and spin around rapidly for five minutes before gradually slowing to halt.

I don't really choose friends, so to speak. Friends just kind of happen on their own for me. It usually starts with a casual conversation with a coworker or somebody who is standing there waiting for the bus with me, then the revelation that we have something in common like, I dunno, a love for Heavy Metal or some witty observation or something to that effect. From there, the hanging out and opening up about personal life and other shit we've been through starts and suddenly we're good friends.

I tried doing that, but I nearly decapitated an old lady when she got too close before I started slowing down.

Oh you're supposed to go for five minutes and point? I just kind of spin until I get dizy and end up becoming friends with whoever I stumbled into, your way seem less problematic.

I'm fairly picky about friends. First we must have some commonality. I find people work for their own survival; therefore, if our survival is somehow linked they are steady and trustworthy without it being forced or having to act differently for the benefit of the other.
The next is ethical and moral biases. Having a standard of proper treatment towards others is almost as good. Though perhaps not the closest of friends I know they will never sink below their ethical standard, which is good because I have fairly highly established ethics. I don't want to be around someone who takes the low road all the time, when it is forbidden ground for my self. It creates and uneven relationship that is doomed to fail.

ALL of my friends are assholes... I'm not diluting this fact either. I tend to attract myself to the weirdest people. . . which is odd. . . because I think of myself as a pretty nice person.

"Dime con quien andas, y te dire quien eres"
I have "alot" of people that are friendly towards me, but I only consider having 3-5 actual friends.
Respect is "earned" it cant be given.

Au contraire, respect can indeed be given. But not demanded.

NEED is too needy in this context.
