CGP has now been publishing alternative forms of literature since February of 2003. We welcome you to browse around and see what we're all about. There is a bit of restructuring going on right now, given what we've learned about the small press industry and what readers are looking for, but our goal is still to provide alternative ideas for what defines the word 'book.' In a nutshell, we are still primarily a publisher of the novella form, in ebook, chapbook, and audiobook formats. We have begun publishing books in trade paperback format as well, featuring our annual anthology of humorous speculative ficiton, the Amityville House of Pancakes.Darkside Press

Del Rey Books began as an imprint of Ballantine Books in 1977 with the bestselling The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks (which was the first novel to hit the New York Times trade bestseller list). Begun by editor Judy-Lynn del Rey with the editorial assistance of her husband, author and editor Lester del Rey, Del Rey Books quickly grew into the most robust science fiction/fantasy imprint in the field. Over the years, our list has grown beyond Terry Brooks to include Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Stephen Donaldson, Anne McCaffrey, David Eddings, Larry Niven, Alan Dean Foster, Katherine Kurtz, Jack L. Chalker, Barbara Hambly, and many other familiar names.DMMG (DisAssociation Music & Media Group).

DMMG (DisAssociation Music & Media Group), was founded in 1998, from the remanants at the time of the previous Cyrkel Spynn Fanzine and Dark & Wise Recordings (tape distro label).
Cyrkel Spynn Fanzine orignally ran from 1995 to 1997, as a cut-and-paste style DIY printed fanzine... CS Fanzine was the first ever fanzine of it's kind genrically... CS fanzine was the World's first ever Pagan Music fanzine, the fanzine also had a focus on Gothic music and culture... in 1998 CS fanzine officially called it a day... and DMMG was formed as a music management & promotions label.
In 2005, DMMG decided to reform several of it's previous labels these included.
Cyrkel Spynn Publications (publishers of Cyrkel Spynn fanzine).
Altar-Ego Music (music publishers founded in 1999 as an off-shoot to the AEM Records label which split in 2002).
Dark & Wise Recordings (founded in 1997, but refounded as a proper compilation CD label rather than the previous tape distro label).
DMMG Management & Promotions. (the original concept of the founding of DMMG was as a management and promotions label, with the label running for several years between 1998 and 2004, the label reformed in 2006).
Also were founded in 2006 two new subsiduary labels within the DMMG company, namely:
DMMG Records (UK).
Seventh Hell Recordings.
Twilight Tales
(Clicks: 93; Comments: 0; Added: 02-17-2007)
Founded in 1993 by award-winning novelist Tina Jens as a weekly fiction reading series, Twilight Tales has brought hundreds of authors from Chicago and around the world to perform their stories live before an audience. More than a decade later, weekly shows are still held every Monday night upstairs at the Red Lion Restaurant & Pub 2446 N. Lincoln Ave. across the street from the Biograph Theater. Early in its life, Twilight Tales branched out and began collecting the fiction of many of its readers in a series of “sherbet†colored chapbooks. In recent years, the publishing arm of Twilight Tales has moved into producing professional trade paperback anthologies and single author collections. Twilight Tales readers and anthology contributors have included visiting best-selling authors like Max Allan Collins, Barbara D’Amato, Brian Lumley, Yvonne Navarro, Karen Taylor, Melanie Tem and Gahan Wilson , as well as nationally known local novelists like Robert Weinberg, Gene Wolfe, Algis Budrys, Jay Bonansinga , and many more. The books are available at all Twilight Tales shows, as well as at a variety of bookstores, book and art fairs and genre fiction fandom conventions throughout the year. Over the past several years, Twilight Tales has also featured local, domestic and international authors’ fiction as a part of its web site. Twilight Tales is a volunteer-run venture, and many Chicago area authors and fiction-lovers have contributed to its success over the years.Hippocampus Press

Located in the deep dark woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Necessary Evil Press is owned and operated by Don Koish. Established in 2003, Necessary Evil Press has rapidly become a serious contender in the world of specialty press publishing. While the press was still in its infancy, two NEP titles were nominated for the prestigious Bram Stoker Award, and one of them, The Turtle Boy, ultimately went on to receive this great honor. Every year since, our books have appeared in various Year's Best lists and appeared on many award ballots, culminating recently in a 2005 HWA Specialty Press award which cited the press' overall attention to excellence. Among the authors we have worked with are Tim Lebbon (The Assassin series, Berserk), Kealan Patrick Burke (The Turtle Boy), Gary Braunbeck (In the Midnight Museum), Brian Keene (Take the Long Way Home), Simon Clark (She Loves Monsters), and Michael McBride (Zero), almost all of which have sold out pre-publication. Here at NEP we pride ourselves on selecting books based on the strength of story. The name of the author, while most certainly a consideration, is secondary to strong writing, credible characters, an engaging plot and scares aplenty. Backed up by high quality production values and eye-catching artwork, our releases are among the finest and most attractive books you'll find on the market, and we strive to improve with each and every one. We have already discussed future projects with some of the most acclaimed authors out there, and are confident that you will find each new release to be a very necessary addition to your horror library.Old Earth Books

(Clicks: 105; Comments: 0; Added: 02-19-2007)
"Though it was not immediately foreseen, Arkham House had its inception in the death of Howard Phillips Lovecraft on March 15, 1937â€. These words of reflection penned by August Derleth some 20 years after the creation of Arkham House (AH) show the initial purpose of AH, but they also foretell what was to become of this now historical icon in the world of small pulp publishers. AH not only thrives today as a result of the vision of August Derleth and Donald Wandrei; the company brings the past alive through the works of Lovecraft, Derleth, E. Hoffman Price, and Nelson Bond. AH published its first book, The Outsider and Others by Lovecraft, in 1939. More than sixty years and 200 books later, Lovecraft remains on the center stage of its success while introducing fans to new authors to the world of the macabre, fantasy, and horror. New authors like John D. Harvey (The Cleansing) bring exciting energy to readers while keeping the integrity of the mission set forth by AH’s founders. The works presented by AH over the years would excite the likes of Lovecraft and his fellow pulp fiction authors. Soon after Lovecraft’s death, Derleth received a letter from Wandrei with news of the death of Lovecraft on March 15, 1937. In the afternoon of receipt of the letter, Derleth wrote Wandrei “that something should be done to keep Lovecraft’s work in printâ€. The two young writers later agreed that collecting the stories was not enough; they needed to be published. They did so and passed along the manuscript to Derleth’s then publisher, Charles Scribner’s Sons, which rejected the idea. Thus, Arkham House was born.Earthling Publications

Golden Gryphon Press was founded in 1997 by Jim Turner, the long-time editor of Arkham House, with the mission to publish handsome, quality books of short story collections by today's master writers and tomorrow's rising stars. Upon Jim's untimely demise in 1999, my wife Geri and I assumed operation of Golden Gryphon Press, and are continuing publication. We do this for two-fold reasons: to honor Jim's legacy, and because we appreciate good books. It is said that one should not judge a book by its cover, but epicures also say that a meal begins with the eyes. Golden Gryphon Press books are a pleasure to behold, with their always striking cover art; to hold, as they are crafted using the finest material and techniques; to own, as the alkaline paper will retain its quality for decades; and finally, to read, as each story is very carefully considered and edited before it is included.Necronomicon Press

Now more than 30 years and more than a thousand titles later, DAW has a well-deserved reputation for discovering and publishing the hottest talents in the industry. Many stars of the science fiction and fantasy field made their debuts in the pages of a DAW book, including Tad Williams, C. J. Cherryh, Mercedes Lackey, Melanie Rawn, C.S. Betsy and Sheila are strongly committed to discovering and nurturing new talent, and to keeping a personal "family" spirit at DAW—something they feel is all too rare in today's world of international conglomerate publishing. Chaosium, (Kay-Oss-Eum) is known for publishing high quality books & games, and for having a well-developed sense of fun. In 1975 the company was founded as The Chaosium by Greg Stafford. It was later incorporated as Chaosium Inc. Chaosium thrives in the mild climate, gorgeous surroundings, and gentle earthquakes of the San Francisco Bay area. The main office is in Hayward, located about half-way between San Francisco and San Jose. A short walk away is a very good micro-brewery (and one of the oldest!) and Charlie Kranks home. Charlie is our president and resident BBQ expert. The Chaosium sales, promotion, and propaganda office is located in Silverton, Colorado. No one really understands why that is. Dustin Wright, the fellow who lives and works there, is hard-pressed to explain it himself though sitting at an elevation of 9318 feet, the area holds a curious resemblance to the Plateau of Leng. Most of Chaosium's product lines are based upon literary sources. H.P. Lovecraft's 1920's horror fiction provides the basis of the classic Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game line which has won so many awards that the we have lost count, though we do know that there are more than 70 of them. Mr. Lovecraft also provides the inspiration for our many Call of Cthulhu Fiction collections. Michael Moorcock's popular Eternal Champion Swords & Sorcery novels form the foundation of the Stormbringer roleplaying game. Both Call of Cthulhu and Stormbringer use our Basic Roleplaying system which is alive and well despite many, many years of fun and insanity. In 2005, Chaosium is celebrating our 30th anniversary.
