So you basically like anything popular, regardless of how epically bad it is?

Panic at the disco is the only one I'd consider popular. Maybe evanescence, but I thought they fell off the planet sometime around '05. Nightwish - isn't that the one with that song about a fish or something? Not exactly prominent. Otep - I guess if you hang around Ozzfest - are they still doing that nu-metal thing? Never heard of Epica. The singer looks cute.

Sometimes, you can like things precisely because of how bad they are. Have you ever heard of the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra? Easily on my list of top movies.

Or you can like "epically bad" things because they are readily available and you haven't been exposed to the better choices.

Welcome to the forum.

I'd like to know which those are, because, presumptuous as they might be, I'm pretty sure they'll be the same than the 200+ people I saw two weeks ago in a 'dark' concert.

You really don't need to have a super secret reason to like something that ordinary people wouldn't understand.

It's ok to just appreciate things for what they are, even if it isn't profound. It doesn't make you less of a person.

Epica's the only one I wouldn't call extremely popular. But, hey. That's just me.

I actually like Panic, but only their new music. Their old 'masquerade' thing made me sick.

That reason is not uniquely your own or even different from the majority of the people who read books by those authors or listens to that music. Also, there are books that are actually written MUCH better by much more talented writers that have relatable characters and the same goes for lyrics.

I don't mind what she likes all that much.
But she said "my reasons are different than most", when they aren't.

You have no way of knowing that.

Also--that's not what I had a problem with.
I had a problem with you telling her about all of the "better" things she should look into.

To each their own.

I should warn you. I'm going to make fun of you, a lot. I just like busting people's chops. It's what I do.

Evanescence made better music before she chased one of the founding members of the band clean out of it.

Welcome. You're in for a lot of pain

Have you listened to their first album? It was the same guitar riffs for pretty much all the songs. Not to say any of the subsequent music was any better but at least they got a little variety in that.

yeah, i'm going to like what i like for whatever reason i choose, got a problem with that? fuck you, just because your opinion is different, doesn't mean i'm wrong. and if i find something enjoyable to me that's mainstream, who cares? its not like i'm forcing YOU to do anything you want. i don't care if people are "mean" to me or make fun of me, just respect my opinion, i'll respect yours.
