Nippon Ichi
So I was wondering if anyone else has played some of the fantastic SRPG (Strategy Role Playing Games) from Nippon Ichi?
The games that I know of that they ahve prudced include:
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, Makai Kingdoms, La Pucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (which I believe has two sequels), Soul Nomad and the World Eaters ( Soul Cradle in Japan) and Grim Grimoire.
Their games really range in style and plot, with Disgaea telling the Story of Laharl, Prince of the Netherworld in a very comedic fashion, to the very sombre and heart wrenching Phantom Brave; about a young girl by the name of Marona who was given the gift of seeing and summoning Phantoms (almost ghost like entities caught between life and death) and how she deals with the social prejudice of being a "Possessed One", it also shines light on the shallowness of society and how difference can make us completely biased to a person.
I've played all the above games except for the Rhapsody games, Soul Nomad and Grim Grimoire however I purchased Grim Grimoire today and intend to play it ASAP.
I strongly recommend them all for a good play, story and laugh.
Especially Makai Kingdom which proves to be ever hilarious even on my thrid run through, cause you get to play a "badass freakin' overlord"
