Third therapist in 5 sessions... and I think that this one might fit.
She's very organised, is excited that I want to work hard instead of being intimidated and is totally on board with the goal of staying off medication.

That's awesome MissA! A friend keeps recommending I go to therapy and get on meds, and I've refused it each time.

Thanks.
I think that therapy is definitely worth it.. even if it's just to learn coping mechanisms to make things easier.. or at least make things not as difficult. But I also think that it is something that is going to just be a waste of time unless the person wants to be there.
I think that meds work for some people - and if people need them and they work for them, then that is great. But I also think that we over-pathologise and over-medicate to a huge extent.

We're all aware that pothead is a puppet troll of Kontan or Despanan, right?
ETA: Although if you google image his picture, he's either an elaborate ruse or real. Hilarious.

I managed to figure out what the problem with my MSN messenger was! For a few days, it has been lagging severely whenever I wanted to open a new chat or a popup came, and it could take several minutes to respond.
I tried virus scanning, removing malware, uninstalling and everything. Turned out it was when Java updated, it placed a new version of Java but didn't remove the old one, so I had two versions of Java conflicting on my machine.
After removing the old one, the problem went away.

I can't use MSN messenger anymore.. it was driving me to despair by crashing constantly and lagging so much.
I wonder if it might be the same problem.
I use Skype and GTalk now.. I love them!

Miss A: It might be - regardless of the future of your MSN usage, I suggest you check this out as it can cause a variety of other problems on Java-based applications on your machine. Minecraft will lag like crazy if this affliction has hit you as well. And it is an ever-present problem whenever Java updates. For a big, world-wide application like Java, they sure suck at writing proper update extrating software...

I have just replaced MSN with Skype. Since Skype is officially replacing MSN sometime next year anyway I may as well just do it now.
The dog has been cheering me up with her daft antics. She's rather naughty and very cute. She jumps around like a jack in the box, and spins mid-leap when you prepare dinner because she's impaitient and excited.
She'd make a bloody good ratter ( which I was surprised to learn still goes on ) the way she can worm into small spaces down furniture/behind my back/under knees . Very determined to get the "rat" which is in facy my hand. She stands proper four square and really shakes her toys around . I can see why Jack Russels were/are used for ratting !!!

Congrats on finding a therapist that works for you.
Sometimes it's good to go on meds, to give you a break, so alternative therapies can have time to work.
I never wanted to go on meds, then decided I was sick of struggling along, went on meds, while I developed coping strategies and then came off the meds.
I agree we over medicate ourselves, but sometimes you just need to be kind to yourself.
WMMD:- not thinking about tomorrow, focusing on today, and listening to a segment on Radio National about the benefits of meditation practices - a nice gentle reminder that i need to meditate more!

Thanks for the congrats. I'm feeling really positive about the process again. I was quite scared that I was losing motivation to get things sorted and that I wouldn't have the momentum to follow through with it all.
I understand that about meds, and I don't begrudge the people that they work for the opportunity to have them. Personally, I've tried a number of different medications and combinations over the years, and the side effects have been horrible - both short term, and long term.
I'm a lot more stable and a lot more able to cope with things when I'm not medicated. They do work for a lot of people, I'm just not one of those people.
WMMD: I went out for pizza and cocktails with friends last night - which was fabulous fun.. but more than that, there was a new person who turned up to the group and chatting to him later he told me that he had a great time. There was another girl there who rarely comes out to events, and she said that she's really looking forward to the next one. And two of my friends from another 'circle of friends' came along as well, and they loved it.
I'm always surprised when I organise an event and people enjoy it.
