I believe Tim Burton to be a great director and have enjoyed his movies, but in a way i agree with Raven a bit, the visual feel his movies give don't quite actually match the story, but i did like the first Batman movie....."ever danced with the devil underneath the pale moonlight?" Damn, Jach Nicholson did awesome as the JOKER. Overall though I think Burton is a true genius in his own right.

I enjoy all of Tim burton's stuff.....

Batman was great.... I loved Jack Nicholsons acting... but he visually wasn't the best joker.
Now combine his vocals and acting skills with Ceasar Romeros embodiment of the joker and you've got it perfect.

My school (before I moved ) was doing a Musical compilation... and I was cast as Jack to do "Whats this?" i was quite excited......but then I ditched town..... *Slaps forehead* jackass.....

i hadn't thought of that polished wolf claws, but it does sound like a great idea....maybe someday there will be a new Batman movie that doesn't suck and they'll remake the joker in that way.

I like Tim Burton a lot... I do agree that sometimes the plot doesn't live up to the fantastic visuals, but as eye candy it's all good.

My favourite film of his, hands down, is Edward Scissorhands. I've been in love with that movie since the first time I saw it. I think it was also one of the first Johnny Depp movies I watched. It's been one of my top favourite movies for years.

Nightmare Before Christmas is a close second, though. I love Jack.

its all so beautiful, Tim Burton is definately one of my favourites. Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas were childhood favourites of mine (people sure thought i was weird...). Such exquisities lie in his work.

I've loved every Tim Burton movie I've seen except for Corpse Bride-- the music wasn't great and I was actually bored by the time it was over.

I've loved The Nightmare Before Christmas since I was little and it's still my favorite movie. I listen to the soundtrack on my iPod all the time.

I liked Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I still prefer the old one. Gene Wilder has always been one of my favorite actors (so has Johnny Depp, to be fair.)

Tim Burton is superb. That's overall (everyone's allowed an off-moment).
Not strictly related, but - has anyone seen the ballet of Edward Scissorhands?

Was that in the movie or something else? Sounds intruiging.

Red face

The ballet's actually an entity in its own right.

I saw it just before Christmas. It's basically a ballet made of the story. They had to change a couple of bits of the story round, with it being on stage but it didn't damage it, I thought.

It was so lovely...

Edward Scissorhands changed my nagative views on Depp (which prior to that all i knew of him was 21 jump street and all the 'BOP' magazine pull-outs that girls pasted on their lockers and notebooks at school. made me gag. But edward changed all of that, and inspired my style of dress. Ok, i was in 8th grade, but still... And I just recently obtained my own Edward Scissorhands action figure - the good one - sculpted by McFarlane, from the Movie Maniacs series... I collect action figures. so what...

I have not seen all of burton's films, but I have enjoyed immensely most every one that I have seen, and consider him to be my favorite director, primarily due to his quirky story lines and visuals. I haven't seen corpse bride, but I want to collect the action figures. :-)

The interesting thing about the ballet was how similar the dancer playing Edward was to JD in his movements. As in exactly...

Tim Burton is one of my all time favourite directors, he has had a big influence on a couple of my student films.

His work has always been very imaginative, and visually stunning due to his own unique `expressionist` style.

My top 5 Tim Burton films (in no particular order) are:

Edward Scissorhands

Vincent

Ed Wood (has anyone else seen the actual Ed Wood film, `Plan 9 from outer space` has to be seen to be believed, and you cant beat the cheesey dialogue ...

"For a time we tried to contact them by radio but no response. Then they attacked a town, a small town I'll admit, but never the less a town of people, people who died."

"Perhaps, on your way home, someone will pass you in the dark, and you will never know it... for they will be from outer space. " )

Mars Attacks

Sleepy Hollow

Wow. Yeah, I love Tim Burton's films, and always make a point to see them opening night, if possible. 'Nightmare Before Christmas' is still my favorite movie of all time, but i do so love most of his work. It would, i think, be easier for me to say what my least favorite of his works would be. 'Planet of the Apes' was a subpar entry from Mr. Burton's usual genius, imho, and to me smacks of some sort of contractual obligation.

PS--> Anyone read "Oyster Boy . . ."? Loved it. . .

I quite liked the imagery of the characters in The Corpse Bride but the plot wasn't that exciting...I do like Edward Scissorhands though, it's such a sweet film & Big Fish (it made me cry).Sleepy Hollow isn't that great, Beetlejuice beats that one by far.As for Nightmare Before Christmas, I've grown up watching that film so it is a natural favourite.
