Have you tried playing with the settings, changing the type of cd/dvd you are ripping from? Such as SecurLoc, Normal CD, Game CD, etc?
i've always had good luck with using mds files when using Alc. If it wasn't six thirty in the morning and if i were home instead Shitnatti i could help you more.
You could also look up Paragon CD-Emulator.

Sinus infections suck....so does bronchitis...better than pnuemonia (thanks gods, I don't want to deal with that for the 4th time in the last 2 years) but still not fun.
