How is it possible for this thread to be in existance without anyone mentioning the most goth game around.... ?

Star Wars: Jedi Knight

I mean, for crying out loud, stick to the Dark Side, and you can become Emperor of the entire Galaxy. Sweet. |,,| |,,|

Well in my humble opinion, I would have to say that Doom 3 and F.E.A.R are the most "goth" titles I've played. In Doom 3, everything is literally dark and you have to use a flashlight to navigate, with the feeling that someone or something is going to shank you around the corner... while having that same feeling for a week after. F.E.A.R is really paranormal, and just makes your hair stand on end the whole time through.

I like F.E.A.R.

It was cool to watch him play.

And I can't believe nobody mentioned Captain Blood? It's this 80's (read: crappy graphics, came on 1 floppy) game featuring a space vampire, dark mood and Giger-esque graphics. This really does spell Goth, doesn't it?

Hmm...Interesting! I would vote for Vampire: the Masquerade Redemption/Bloodlines, two of the most kick-ass atmospheric games I've ever played, especially the former.

Other than that, Doom series (I've only played I and II) gave me some very creepy nightmares when I was a boy... I adored the hell levels, it gave you an impression of hopelessness

But you people should seriously consider some custom made modules for Neverwinter Nights. The "Gothiest" of them all (and best if I may add) would be A Dance with Rogues. It describes the story of a princess fallen from grace and having to change her life instantly inside the horrors of the streets and some dark dungeons.... Kunoichi and the bastard of Koshigan are also superb modules...

And of course... Sims! There is the goth family after all!

Oh, and quake II of course... the prison torture champers, the experiment on humans area and the human limb producing factory (...) are one of the creepiest moments in game history... makes you feel overwhelmed...

You should look into playing Quake 4. There's a scene... well, you as the character wont really be the same after it.

Highlight under this:

You get turned into a Strogg. All these machines chop off your limbs, half your face, and stab a bunch of shit into your body. I was fairly disturbed by the scene. It was also first person the whole time, so it really drew you in at that time.

I wish they would actually make a Diablo 3 or World of Diablo. But they wont. They said they wouldn't.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of DARKWATCH. A mysterious secret society that has protected humanity from evil for centuries. The game is a first-person shooter that combines the lawless action of the Wild West with the blood-spattered horror of modern vampire movies. You take on the role of Jericho Cross, a train robber, who through a horrific event is now taking on the form of a vampire and is now a member of the Darkwatch. Cool cemeteries, ghost towns, and old churches where you battle vampires with crossbows.

Another good one, although more campy than creepy, is STUBBS THE ZOMBIE. Stubbs The Zombie lets you become a man whose luck was so bad, dying was the best thing that ever happened to him. In 1933, Edward Stubblefield was a traveling salesman, trying to survive the Great Depression, when he was murdered & buried in a field in Pennsylvania. Fast forward to 1959, when billionaire playboy Andrew Monday builds his own ultramodern city - Punchbowl, where you can "drink your fill of the future". Unfortunately, he built it on the grave of "Stubbs", bringing him back as a angry zombie. Stubbs was a loser all his life, and being a zombie gives him power he never had before. He decides to keep eating brains until the city is his -- unless Andrew Monday can stop him.

(yes I copied the descriptions from Amazon.com)

Both Games I believe are built with the HALO engine.

KontanKarite,

In "The Darkness" there's a torture scene in 1st Person POV that's pretty nasty. Not as nasty as the one you described (oops, I told), but still gruesome.

Pretty Goth game too, that one. I finished it twice!

Yes, The Darkness ruled. Too short though. (but it proves that us crazy swedes can make just as crazy games... )

I love Lemmings! Hooray!

I play Black and White 2 a lot, and I wouldn't classify it as ''goth'' but I get to be a god, and what's better than that?

Probably the upcoming Jericho, the guy who made the hellraiser series made this game, so it' gotta be gorey and gothy as fuck.

I've played Death Jr., but I personally didn't like it. Who knows, though, you may end up liking it as everybody has their own taste. =P

I think some of the gothiest games are as follows:

- Silent Hill: I know this has been mentioned before, but really, who can deny the undeniable gothiness of this series? Creepy little schoolgirls, a haunted town veiled by fog, twisted monsters, and a great, great, great soundtrack!

- Resident Evil: I know this was mentioned previously, too, but again, who can deny the uber gothiness of this game? Seriously, shooting zombies, an evil corporation, dark urban backdrops... what more could you want?

-Clock Tower Series: Old, but still very gothy. A haunted mansion, and a young girl who ends up becoming ensnared in the very claws of hell itself. Really, can you deny the gothiness in this?

-Siren: Made by the director of Silent Hill. You take on the roles of poor teenagers who are snagged in the darkness veiling a little Japanese village, where everybody has become "zombies" of sorts. It's all about survival, and it's hard as HELL. Zombies can fire SNIPER RIFLES... yes, you heard me, sniper zombies.

-Alone In the Dark: Okay, this tops them all. It's a survival horror based off of H.P Lovecraft stories; and you're a detective who investigates a haunted mansion or town full of undead creepy-crawlies. Yes, I do believe this merits the title of a "gothy" game.

I have loads more I could list, as I'm a gaming chick, but I don't feel like typing them all up. Savor the lovely titles I put up here. =D
