I'm thinking about making my own birthday cake this year, no one else I know can bake decently.

Hey that reminds me I have a vegan friend who's birthday is coming up I'd like to make her a cake. Do you have any particularly awesome vegan cake recipes?

Hey, why don't these goths who all suck and don't care about food stop posting because they've died of starvation? Methinks they care about food just a little bit more than they let on! Ha ha ha ha!

Regular cake mix, but instead of oil/egg/water, use a 10-12oz of soda. Light colored soda for white/yellow cake, and dark soda for chocolate.
My favorite is black cherry soda with devil's food cake.
Izze would also work, if you wanted to skip the HFCS in soda.

The very best in my opinion at least is the Raspberry Blackout Cake With Ganache-y Frosting. Unless you wanted something super easy but still very good, I'd recommend the lemon cake recipe I think I got from veggieboards:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tsp lemon extract
2 cup cold water or soy/rice milk
Preheat oven to 350F, grease two nine inch pans with margarine (Earth Balance is vegan and I think Blue Bonnet is also vegan in America, not 100% sure), mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl, all the wet ingredients in another, then mix the wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Its really good, I made a Zelda theme cake last year, this was the cake, only I used a heart shaped pan and made blue frosting, then used strawberries to fill in the center heart piece. Strawberries go very well with it ^_^

Yes...you do want this.
Then again, you can always just get a premade cake mix that doesn't have milk already in it and add soda or applesauce to replace the eggs and milk.

Oooo thanks I had heard the trick about applesauce but not soda, I'm going to have to give that a try. Since it is a special occasion I think I'll try that raspberry blackout cake, it sounds super delish and I have everything but the rice milk on hand.

I don't like peaches, but I do like pears.
And I like sour kraut, but not boiled cabbage. And I can't stand being in a house where you can smell boiled cabbage being made.

So that blackout cake turned out looking a bit funny looking but it tasted pretty amazing.

I love corned beef but I can't stand cabbage.
These cinnamon-sugar pita chips I'm munching on are pretty fucking delicious. ^_^

Yay! I've been craving it ever since I recommended it, actually.
My roommate had bean burrito filling left over for me when I came home from work, truly a god send. I really wanted a burrito but I usually make it with rice too and I didn't want to have to cut up veggies and wait for the rice to cook (I don't eat instant rice), finally I decided that its the only thing I really want to eat, I got up, got the rice cooker out, and then my roommate told me of the filling awaiting me in the fridge. And I didn't say a word to her about craving burritos! It was truly marvelous.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have a roommate who just sits in the back of the closet when not in use and then only comes out to a) cook you food, b) clean stuff, or c) pay half the rent and utilities????
It's heaven.

I've always felt a bit weird about liking corned beef, since no one in my family really ate it and the only other words I ever heard on it was Ron from Harry Potter (ages ago, mind you) complaining about his mom making a corned beef sandwich.
I want a corned beef sammich now.
Saya, your roommate is amazing. My roommate (aka my mother) usually makes the same thing every night, unless I ask/hint for something different. Not that it really affects me now, what with me being on a diet and her not.
. . . I miss bacon.

Careful. You might end up getting diagnosed with Jack's antisocial disorder.
You don't want a roommate. You want a robot ... with a job! LMAO!

I've recently had a total mad fit on Sushi. Admittedly it's not all that traditional or anything, it's from Tesco and comes in a pack with the usual mini soy sauce , wasabi and pickled ginger, but it's lovely . I often have a small box as my midmorning snack.

If ever I buy Sushi from M&S I fully expect that when I open the box, the woman with the super porn commentary voice pipes up with the obligatory " This is not just Sushi, this is M&S sushi "
