Should I cut my hair?
I've got really long hair and lately I've considered cutting it shorter and getting a different style for it.
Problem is, I don't even know what I would do with it if I did.
Any opinions?
Here's an older picture from last September that shows how long it is...

Also, has anyone else ever had this problem?
Going from super long hair to something much shorter, I mean?
I love my hair alot, but I want a change, but I'm also terrified I won't like it.
So anyways, ideas, input, the works.

Honestly, I think super long hair works really well for you. I'd recount the story of when I cut my hair, but I don't think it would really be relevant because I doubt I had nearly as much of an attachment to it as you do. How short are you considering? An idea of approximate length would be easier for us to give opinions.
Or you could shave it all off and go from there.

I suggest, finding a style you like, finding a wig in that style and wearing it around for a bit, see if you like it. That would be a great way of trying it on, without having to commit until you know for sure if its what you really want to do. Not to mention that wigs are SUPER FUN!!
Personally, I wouldn't jump into such a big change. For me, at least, the way my hair looks is an integral part of my self image, so I do my best to be cautious so I don't end up seeing a stranger in the mirror for months.

My hair hasn't been that long in many a moon, but I wouldn't go straight to a pixie cut if that's what you were thinking. I just go shorter and shorter every time I get my hair cut until I got to a length that I was really happy with. And in the end, its just hair, it'll grow back!

That's a fantastic idea! I love wigs as well:P
My hair is something people definately identify me with.
It's always been long, black(aside from the few months I did red and pink and blonde on the top for some reason...), and straight.
Plus, it's uber goth hahaha
Which I know is stupid, but I love.
Versus;
A few of my friends were saying around shoulder length, maybe something like Selene from Underworld or a bit longer.
I think my long hair fits me too, but I've never known anything else, ya know?
Saya;
I was thinking I might do that, just cut off a few inches or so every once in a while until I decide I like it or just want it to grow back. Haha

If you think you are ready for a big chop then I say bite the bullet + go for it! It doesn't work for everyone though, so the suggestions to take off a few inches at a time or play with wigs are probably wise.
Speaking from experience, I went from tail-bone to shoulders with out batting an eye. I was totally ready for it though, no doubts what so ever. It was just way too long! Getting caught in everything from school bag straps to bus seats, to even belts and other clothing items.
Best wishes, and I think you'll probably pull off nicely what ever it is you settle on!

what about cutting it to bra strap length? It would still be pretty long but not so much in the way?

Cut it off and post it to me. I will then have it grafted to my own hair !
My hair has never even reached my bra strap. Ever. I've only had it properly cut once to chin length when I was ten, and it's taken 18 years to get to just past my shoulders.
I'd cut hair as long as yours to no shorter than elbow length if I had it.

If you feel it's time for a change, I think you should go for it. You might want to go for something that doesn't stray too far from what you have right now (stylewise), but shorten it a bit, definitely!

I was thinking maybe something like Prentiss from Criminal Minds hair, minus the bangs.
But I'm still undecided on it.
It seems to be getting in the way more and more though.
My decision should be in the next week or so.
I have a friend that wants to do some photos before I cut it.

Cut it. Prentiss style would look good and it isn't TOO short. Just go for it. If you hate it, you can always wear it up and wait for it to grow out.

Haha well thanks Versus:P
My dad likes it alot too.
He introduces me to his friends and coworkers as Morticia, or my vampire daughter. hahaha
I think after I do the photoshoot with my friend I will cut it.
My friend also pointed out that if I don't like it I can just put my dreads i nuntil it's a length I like.
And wigs as well!!
It is just hair, and once I cut it, it wil grow back and be healthier anyways.

Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it!

I used to have hair your length and within two or three haircuts it went from that to a pixie crop. I wish I'd done it sooner! I find it so much more fun to style, I seem to be able to do more with it now. Plus it's really easy and low maintenance, which is awesome for me because I tend to be really lazy about doing my hair. It's really thick so it was a nightmare when it was long.
I used to wear my hair tied back/up pretty much all the time and someone told me that if you do that and it looks good you can get away with a really short style. I don't know if that's the case for everyone but it was certainly the case for me.
At any rate, as has already been stated, it'll grow back if you don't like it shorter. For what it's worth (probably not much because I tend to prefer very short hairstyles on women) I think you'll look really good with short hair.
