If I've got the cash, American. But I doubt I'll even have the cash for a Mexican one, so I'll probably end up getting an East German copy for around 100-200€

Thing is I just love that twang tele's produce. Plus, It's one of the few shapes I actually like. I hate the shape of the strat.

Check out this site. They have schweet Korean and East German Guitars for cheapskate prices. Plus their original counterparts aren't that much more expensive. Check out the Fame amp section. It's seriously tempting...

Anyone know some easy songs I could learn, easy but sound great? I want to add some filler for my set list.

Right now I'm looking into some Foreigner... double vision or something.

I wouldn't recommend getting a cheapo version of a Tele. If you've been playing guitar for a year/two, you will outgrow it in all of five minutes. Save up and go for the mexican Tele instead.

If you've been playing ,seriously, for a year or two you deserve a decent guitar. $300-$500.

I've been playing since I was about 13. Seriously since I was 14. Thing is, money goes out on necessities so fast I doubt I'd ever have enough to get a decent axe. I'm definitely checking out pawn shops when I'm in Britain. Last time I saw a Gretsch white falcon for 250 squid. In good shape and all, just a couple of scrapes on the headstock, and a couple of burns from fag ends.

Ahahaha. A friend of mine once asked what the best guitar was for punk.
My answer :"Take 100€ to the pawn shop and see what they can do for you."

I love pawn shops.

You can find Fender Squires over at the pawnshops here for like $100, I found a Les Paul that I could get for $350, but I could get a new one for maybe less. Not that my B.C. Rich isn't good enough for me at the moment, when you suck at guitar it's not good to focus on getting a quality axe ... mind you, I don't have the time, and over the years I haven't really been serious about learning... only thing I can think to do is... cut back on my internet time an hour or two, or cut back on an hour of sleep or 2... I spend too much time on here anyway.

Jack, anything lower than the mexican one isn't worth the money.

Duane, you can get an EPIPHONE Les Paul for about 500 that sounds very similar to the Gibson. It's obviously not the same quality, but it's amazing for the price.

Have you ever played an eastern block Tele Copy? It sounds almost like a vintage, maybe a tiny tad sharper. A mexican Tele here would set me back about 600 and something. Why pay that much, when you can get a copy that costs just over 100 and sounds almost just as good?

have you thought about looking at a Squier (Fenders Budget brand) Tele copy, they are excellent value for money, and according to a friend of mine, they can out perform the MIM Fenders !!!.

Do you read Guitarist magazine, because they have an excellent classified section in the back full of second hand treasures !!!.

I've been thinking about learning guitar, feeling rather musical lately but just not in the mood for saxophone. My mom would probably give me a lend of her acoustic since she doesn't play anymore, but its a right handed guitar, is it hard for lefties to learn how to play right handed?

Yes, at first. I learned lefty because I enjoy it more, but it's up to you.

Joe Strummer was a lefty who learned righty, so it happens.

Oh... hey, we have a chicken deli at the store that's been closed for a while, and now that it's open again, I might be able to get a pay check. So, in case I do I'm looking around for a good distortion pedal... chorus pedal too.

I play right handed, and I'm left handed. It's just a bit tricky at first, but now I only play right handed.
