Big You, Little You

What if your adult (or present) self could meet your childhood self? Would you have advice? Warnings? Or would you preserve the surprises ahead in life?

What do you think the child you would think of you now? And how, hypothetically, would you achieve this meeting? Time travel? Magic mirror? Some other fantastic way?

If I could I would simply avoid any and all contamination of my life, sure my life hasn't been the easiest one around, and I know plenty of things now that could of helped me then, but I like to think that all the problems that I have overcome have made me into who I am now, and I'm for the most part fine with who I am. I would probobly simply get close to myself, and strike up a conversation or two with me, and then leave before I leave a lasting memory.

I's say to my 6 year old self " Claire? Play that horse and carriage game at your fucking peril, you want the next decade of your life ruined beyond repair? Go ahead and gallop "

I'd probably tell myself to read more and care less. And that I was awesome and would probably turn out great anyway...

Run, play, pay attention in school... and pick up the guitar earlier, we don't want them to have to wait for the revival of good rock for too long.

I'd tell myself to listen to read more (not that I didn't read much when I was smaller.)

There's not really much, but I am only 16, so that's probably it.

I'd probably make one change maybe six/seven months ago.
which completely goes against my "no regrets" policy, but hey, I wish I hadn't done it.

I would go back and tell my six year old self "Read, but focus it more efficiently (easy to say to a kid), don't tell all the kids at school what intercourse is, try not to bring too much embarrassment on your mother and the secret of the universe is......(disappear)"

Oh, I'd also tell my younger version not to wave at those couple of chicks in 5th grade, as they could use it as an excuse to go tell the principal that Ihe sexually harrassed them. Several other harmless things, too. Oh, and I'd tell the 8th grade version of myself not to hit a kid with a lunch tray, and to just let it go... maybe not.

I would have the time of my life. The little fucker wouldn't stop asking questions and I would try to answer every one of them.

I'd kidnap myself and raise me as a daughter until we reached an intersecting point in time and in a flash, reintegrated.

Or I'd just buy little me a lot of candy and tell her there's no god.

I would say "Elisabeth, Elisabeth dear, put down the fucking food you fat pig!" Then pat myself on the chubby little head and return to present time.

Total grandfather paradox. Of course, if I kill my younger self, I won't time-travel, and won't kill my younger self. >_< Maybe a ontological paradox would work better.

I_Zik: That reminds me of this one episode of The Big Bang Theory.

We're not talking here about a 'bit of silly nonsense'
THIS THREAD is a merry 'bit of silly nonsense'

But with the theme of this thread it was obvious that we threw out the laws of physics by the window and you still managed to say something dumb.

Yes, this thread is only nonsense. Why should one bit of nonsense bother you more than any other bit? You can't possibly have thought I was making a serious suggestion with my comment about 'reintegration'.

Alan, dear, your intelligence and earnestness is very admirable, but you do get yourself excited over nothing sometimes.

It was just a facepalm. I think you got offended for a longer time than I took in finding that picture.

You wanted a bigger argument over something you were saying is insignificant? Pick an opinion and stick to it, damn it.
