Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

neo-victorian (sp?)

I recently saw a flyer for wumpskate talking about the genres of music featured that particular night, one of them being neo-victorian.

I'm not heavily immersed in the music scene so i tried researching what the music could sound like, and found very little.

any fans of this genre out there? what can the genre be compared to? recommend a certain artist who falls into this category?

I haven't heard of this genre referring to music.
Sounds like a term used to clothing more so.

Sounds like a wonderful way to live, but I haven't heard it in reference to music either. Though I would listen to a sample the moment I found some.

I don't think this really exists as a musical genre; I think someone either made it up (not being aware of its existence) or used it wishfully. Personally, I like the sound of it and would love to actually hear music that would fit the term.

At the bottom of this paragraph are some artists that could be considered Neo-Victorian.

I cannot picture music in itself being steampunk, but I can understand the steampunk theme in some music. It would be similar to our umbrella term of Goth that can encompass such different styles as Siouxsie and The Neph.

Clanking metal noises... yes, sort of a "noise" aspect mixed with classical music is what comes to my mind, while imagining what would be a true "Steampunk band." It sounds fucking cool to me.

Not just "noise", but maybe a sort of techno sound mixed with classical music. I've heard it done in a few steampunk anime I've seen, with impressive results.

Unfortunately I couldn't read the credits, so I can't name any bands...
-_-;;
