I decided a simple thing to do would be to share with you guys some songs that I have found to evoke some sort of emotion out of me:

The Cure - "Bloodflowers"
"Lilium" from Elfen Lied
The Cranberries - "Zombie"
Gary Jules - "Mad World"
The Crüxshadows - "Love/Tragedy"

...Hrm, not many songs send me down that path. I suppose, "Mad World" might do it on occasion, but maybe I'm just an uncaring sod. Really, a lot of songs are "touching", but the one that usually can render me into super-sentimental mode was an opera version of Celes' theme from Final Fantasy 6. I played a lot of videogames as a child, so it sort of reminds me of childhood. Then it's the odd moments, that cut you down to the very depth, that special place you cover with layers of ambivalence and anger. ...To the absolute sublime, I shake my fist angrily. Grr.

I started listening to a song by the band called "Mercenary". It was titled, "Redefine Me". And, it made me sad.

I don't know why. Yet, it makes me feel guilty, and just gives me this sense of gloom. It's interesting.

"The Reason" by Hoobastank.

It was played at my friend's funeral. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a hoobastank fan.

Björk - Play Dead
I cried the first time I heard this song, still do sometimes. It's so incredible sad, yet with a hint of hope. One of the most beautiful songs I know. Love it.

Tool - Wings For Marie/10 100 Days
The mood is very melancholic and sad, I've never cried from this one but it's really gotten me into the dark mood.

I Hung My Head by Sting
The song is about a man who accidentally (or not) shoots and kills another man and is sentenced to hang. The sound isn't terribly sad, but the lyrics certainly are.

In fact, the entire Soul Cages album by Sting, give or take a few songs, makes me sad, or at least pensive.

Eh. Can't think of any more at the moment.

I think I've never cried because of a song... The closest I've got must have been the first time I heard My Immortal by Evanescence.

I was just listening to 6 to 8 by AFI... And damn, that song brings back a lot of memories. The sorts of memories you'd do anything to live again.

You never really appreciate moments until you think back on them. and you think back on the times you had, or friends you'll never see again...its sad.

Disintegration by The Cure is such a powerful song, I get choked up at times listening to it.
And Heroes by David Bowie.
Oh! And Some Kind Of Stranger by The Sisters Of Mercy. Wonderful.

Forgot about Gary Jules. Great song. I like the cover more than the original by TFF.

For me it brings bad memories...just like This Time Imperfect. the difference is that This Time Imperfect brings back bad memories from july 2005 and 6 to 8 brings back bad memories December 2006. O___o.

Songs don't make me sad, but the feelings I had when I used to listen a lot to that song.

This Time Imperfect sums up 2 years of constant sexual confusion and people playing with me.. and staring me@_@.

"I'd show a smile, but i'm too weak,
I'd share with you could I only speak,
Just how much this, hurts me.

Just how much this, hurts me.

Just how much you..."

The good thing is that I became stronger. and paranoic.

"This Time Imperfect" is such a lovely song! And even better live!
When Dave sings its live, after "Just how much this hurts me," he whispers, "I think I'm going to cry." Seriously beautiful.
I love "The Despair Factor." It tugs at a heart string for me. The breakdown gives me chill bumps.
Reminds me of when I was younger too, didn't worry much.

Despair Factor is a great song, no wonder It's called Desapair Faction.

6 to 8 is my favorite song from "the Art of Drowning" album.

"On the way I saw five hours of sleep but your fire makes it all worth while"

I pity the fool who don't like AFI because it's a trend hating everything.

AFI is the band that I listened to from late childhood to adolescence to (what I think of as) adulthood. It's funny... Listening to Black Sails through to Decemberunderground is like watching a movie of myself growing up. The memories attached to each song are so strong and vivid. I suppose that's why they rank as my favourite band.
