Exclamation Blood splatter effect with paint?

Hi,

I'm new to DIY and am looking to customize a black backpack- I want it to have blood splatters all over it.

I'm looking to actually splatter the paint on the bag instead of painting individual blood splatters because I'm not that good at painting.

I met this girl once who had blood-splattered black boots and she said she did it by just flicking the paint at them from a paintbrush, but I forgot which kind she used.

So basically I'm wondering
1) What paint would be good for a splatter effect?
2) Do I need to dilute it with water? If so, how much?

Thanks,

I don't know how well bloodsplatter would transfer to black fabric. You might want to think about something in a lighter color. Or get a neon/super bright red.

Or you could spatter the paint from a paintbrush. I think a small-medium brush would work. Just dip it in paint and fling it.

You could try Dylon fabric paint, they have some paints specifically for painting on to dark fabrics. You want to find the sort that comes in 25mL pots like this. Paint it on, allow to dry, cover with scrap fabric, iron to fix the paint, then wash (this is really for making the paint soft I think, so you might not need to do it for a bag).

I've used it on black fabric before, it won't work with a single layer. I'd imagine that just splattering with a paint brush would for the first layer, but then you'll have to paint over it by hand for the second. Use the iron on the first layer (once it's dry) before applying the second layer, and then use the iron again on the second layer (again, once it's dry).

Don't dilute the paint.

I don't know about what kind of paint would work best on black, I would suggest a tan or white backpack instead.

As far as splattering goes, you can use a painbrush and fling it or you can use a small spray bottle with watered down paint.
A toothbrush and flicking it with your finger works for small splatters around the bigger ones to look more 'natural'.
