Aw, Kitty! It's good to be playful in your older years, feline friend.

My two 11 year olds were tearing the place up last week! They were swatting nip mice all over the floor, digging old toys out from under the loveseat, they had a boxing match... Not sure who was having more fun: them being crazy or me watching them!

What's making my day? Well, it's only quarter til 9 but so far I'd say having a good morning off to school for my babybat, dancing and singing to Staring At The Sea with our cockatoo, and this here yummy coffee

Hope you enjoy it too, Fruitbat!

I'm excited for the dark, windy days in late October when the trees are half-stripped and thrashing in the wind.

Trivia from Mental Floss: In 2009, Iowa's Department of Elder Affairs changed its name to the Department on Aging, or DOA.

Bwah-hah-hah-hah-hah!

Department of Aging? I would have thought Elder Affairs was more euphemistic, which is the way things seem to be going. Next they'll call it Department of Old Fogeys, or Department of Defense (which takes care of some quite offensive things) will change to Department of Military Affairs.

But DOA was the funny part of that post. Your acronyms weren't funny.

You might be able to tolerate the Denver winters. When we get snow it's around 'long enough to be pretty' but will usually melt down between falls.

Not like in Anchorage where we'd have a layer of permafrost for the winter. Then when we'd have the melt in the spring the gutters would be filled to the brim with a brown slush and cold mud-water mix.

I positively love fall and winter! I love when the high is mid-70s and it's overcast with a 50% or more chance of precipitation. Hasn't gotten past 60 oF yet today and that's making me indescribably gleeful
