I've read an article that sums the series up, and this is where it gets the sickest, that illustration doesn't tell the half of it. Apparently after Edward rips open the girl's womb with his fangs, werewolf boy puts some sort of spell on the child that will force her to love him when she grows up. I imagine this will increase the number of abusive relationships out there.

I wouldn't go so far to say this will increase the number of abusive relationships, but its sick that this is popular, acceptable for tweens apparently, and perpetuated by women.

Meh, I've read worst things. Seriously, terrible things.

That aside, personally I couldn't care less, I really think people are just trying to find something to tear her apart for. There are worst books, but no one cares, worst things on t.v, no one cares, cartoons teaching ridiculous things to children, no one gives a shit. But, some chick wrights a crappy book that becomes popular for reasons no one really understands, everyone gets an instant knot in their under garments.

Give us some examples of 'worst' books, cartoons and tv than 'Twitardeness' so that we can show you how wrong you are.

I think media reflects our culture and society, especially when things start to trend and become popular. So if something is hella misogynistic and has creepy pedo implications and millions of people love it and lap it up, its disturbing.

You know. Maybe I'm going soft. But I really don't think it was meant to be misogynist or paedophilic in any way. I think it's just that the author is so fucking retarded, she didn't even notice what she was writing and what subtexts it has.

I think Meyers is a woman-hating pedo. What kind of grown woman writes about teenage love stories?

A fucking moron that is obviously still revelling in her highschool years that doesn't know better and doesn't know what image she is portraying?

Okay, I'll concede the moronic-stuck-in-high-school bit, but I think she just doesn't care what image she's portraying rather than not knowing. So long as she's getting paid she probably doesn't give 2 shits about how people see her.

I don't think she's cackling madly because her plan to ruin women is going so well, but she is a Mormon dolt who probably felt too guilty having sex dreams so she invented abstinence porn. And marrying babies is pretty romantic to some of them.

You see, Still Jack is dead on, along with Saya. You should learn something from them Graus. I wasn't trying to defend Twilight, I was merely trying to stat you hate her for the wrong reasons, which makes you sound like you don't know what your talking about.

Eh? She doesn't like her because she presents a horrible romance that teenage girls are lapping up. Even if she's doing it in ignorance and even feeling good about setting a good impression, since the main characters are abstinent, doesn't mean she's absolved of having fucked up ideas about gender and romance.

Seriously, my 14 year old cousin said she can't wait to meet her Edward *shudder*

Yeah. Tis pretty ridiculous, kids these days. But, I have it out for the entire Disney channel more than Stephanie Meyer. That and I just keep remembering how everyone hated Harry Potter for awhile, which I actually enjoyed reading, so I can't help but relate.

Gah, too tired to make comprehensible sentences.

Far as I remember though Harry Potter was actually a good example of how you can have a decent female heroine. The hype was annoying for a while but it was written well enough and probably will become a classic in time. I say that as someone who couldn't get past the third book.

The thing is, even if Meyer is completely innocent, she still wrote a book portraying an ideal relationship as one that is abusive and a lot of the subtext of the novels brings up very odd and sometimes dangerous lessons.

At the very worst, Meyer is backwards and knows exactly what she's saying and either A) doesn't care, or B) thinks what she's saying is a good thing. At the very least, she's just a moron. You can hate her for being a moron I guess, but I don't really see the point.

You compared the book to Potter? I think a more apt comparison would be Eragon. A very mediocre-bordering-bad young adult fantasy book with loads of troubling subtext, obviously coming from the mind of someone who is mentally and emotionally immature and has probably never thought what they were writing down through all the way, carried to massive hype and popularity by a target audience just as emotionally and mentally immature as the writer, with tastes that are quite undeveloped.

However, I feel more sympathy for Paolini. It's a lot easier to empathize with a young writer still struggling to find their footing than a middle-aged housewife whose style probably won't improve in any significant way.

I dont really care I about the books, its was an ok read but not as fantastic (until I found out who wrote it) and it didn't really fall under the category of 'vampire novel'. Its the movie that gets to me, they choose the wrong actors (Kristen is always the same in every movie she is in, so that was a big kill, Robert, too too too old and he looks not even close to the description of 'Edward'). The fan are...(no words can express how I feel about them). If you watched the MTV's Movie Awards they won most of it , GOD! cant believe that they won over Harry Potter!! and that Kristen won best female actor over Natalie port man and Emma Watson! I'll have to wait a couple more years until Twilight is dead to watch any awards.
EDWARD IS NOT A VAMPIRE!

1. So, my reason of "I think Meyers is a woman-hating pedo" is invalid to you because......?

2. Do I really have to restate all of the reasons that rational people automatically hate Twilight and its fans?

3. If you are going to tell someone to 'learn' something, child, you should damn well know the difference between 'you're'(the contraction) and 'your'(the possesive). And yes, you were defending Twilight so don't backpedal.

not to start anything but...he was not really defending and to defend something you have to oppose the other which he did not do. He just had a neutral comment/ statement.

If you are not trying to start something then why reply?

If you reread the statement about people getting their knickers in a twist it should be obvious that it is a defensive remark.
