I hate your music. :-P

Well, not hate, but I take it you do not consider yourself a goth. No problem there, I guess. Welcome to the site.

Of course, you do realize that "Northern Californian Political Activist" usually translates to "Deranged Liberal", in my opinion. You must thus become the mortal enemy of this goth, as you have slandered both my holy music with your addiction to Rammstein and your unfortunate political associations.

On second thought, I just got bored. Nevermind all that.

Actually, when discussing politics, I'm a centrist leaning libertarian. My biggest issue is preserving the constitution. But thanks for the geographical stereotype; just kidding you there! Thanks for your welcome.

Libertarian? That's awesome. I'm more on the conservative side, fiscally and in personal morality, but overall my political leanings would be considered libertarian as well.

What part od NorCal? I'm in Grass Valley. Oh, and, maybe you already said, but how old are you?

I'm in Crescent Mills. It's in Plumas County; probably about a 2 and half hour drive north from where you're at. Also, I'm 21.
Yeah, on some moral and economic issues, I lean somewhat conservative as well.

Funny, I've been considered a libertarian and don't really have much of a conservative stance on "moral" issues. Oh well.

Welcome.

Welcome, I like Rammstein and Laibach What about Die Krupps? And erm, your choice is wedding music is rather odd, those songs are titled "Without You" and "Where Are You" in English. In fact doesn't Wo Bist Du finish with "I sleep with a knife"...?

Libertarian used to be another word for anarchist. Libertarian socialist literally means anarchist, and libertarian action is literally something promoting anarchism.
Why has it become moderate now? It's just like how liberal is equated with the Left when real liberalism (as we can see with neo-liberalism) is as conservative as most republicans.

If I recall, Libertarianism is just an interpretation of the Bill of Rights that allows Americans to behave American. It calls for smaller government (not no government, a symptom of anarchy) and 'trade with everyone, alliance with none.'

I don't think that's half bad. It promotes personal responsibility, as opposed to forcing the government to rule over peoples lives. The less personal responsibility people want to take, the more responsibility the government has to take, and the more power it has. Eventually civil rights start going away. I don't know about you, but I'm not a big fan of a bunch of lazy fuckers being the cause for my rights to go away, and I'll protect those civil rights tooth and nail.

I think when he said khaki he didn't mean it as a color, but as the model of the pants. There was a time here that khaki pants were so popular everyone started calling the fabric and the cutting of the pants khaki, so in stores the colours would go like this... "yellow khaki pants, grey khaki pants.."

I don't know how it's in the US though.

Amen.

Although I doubt that having "no" alliances is possible or even feasible, especially if you review some of the lessons of history in that department.

Libertarianism is indeed now an interpretation of the Bill of Rights that begs for minimal government intervention to maximize civilian freedom.
But as you said it, it only calls for a small government rather than no government.
It didn't use to be this way. Libertarianism was a word created during the times of the First International and such because anarchists wanted to dissociate themselves with the unjust implications the word anarchy had to most people. This is where the term libertarian socialism appeared, as mentioned by Daniel Guérin, and the adjective 'libertarian' did mean a tendency towards less government, but it didn't set an arbitrary boundary of how little government while keeping the government; rather it simply wanted less government until there was no government.
Now, this is only a matter of semantics. The fact that libertarian has a non-anarchic meaning nowadays doesn't mean that anarchy doesn't exist anymore. It just affects me the same way people think liberalism is leftist and progressive.

Yeah, I like Die Krupps. As for my wedding music, yes, it is pretty odd, but I am an odd individual! Wo Bist Du does end with "I sleep with a knife", a very odd ending for a song about searching for someone.

I used to live in Highland, which is in San Bernardino County. It's the last town you go through before you go into the mountains.

Yes, that was exactly what I was referring to.

On the topic of Libertarianism, that opens the door for much interpretation. There are many different examples of libertarianism based on circumstance. For example, in Russia, Mikhail Gorbachev could be described as a Libertarian because of the fact he pushed for capitalist reforms and the freedom of speech; of course, in America, he may not be considered a libertarian, as those reforms are a given.
When it comes to Libertarianism, there seems to be two different branches: Classical Libertarianism, and Anarchist Libertarianism, whcih the US Libertarian Party fits the most into. Classical Libertarianism is what the US Constitution is based on and is where my political beliefs lie. Anarchist Libertarianism is pretty self explanatory.

That's awesome. What are you planning to do in the political science field? I myself am studying to be a professor.
As for my political activism.....
One of my biggest projects in the past has been to spread awareness about current events, elections, our constitution, etc, because face it, so many Americans are unaware when they head to the polls. Alot of my work has been in the school system; I'm trying to re establish a constitution test to ensure that students are learning enough about the constitution to be able to defend it when our leaders try to tamper with it.
My current project is an underground revolution movement that I've put together. I've written a manifesto for it and am slowly gaining supporters. My revolution is a political revolution, NOT a violent revolution. Sure, it will take longer, but it will be more effective.
That's all I will say about my project in this post; if you wish to know more, I have both my email and my myspace page on my profile.

Cool, all good bands! Though Wo Bist Du is more about having lost someone I think. But hey its your wedding
