Talking State Of The States

So who here still thinks bush and his cronies are still doing good?

Quote of the month...

"You've performed so poor, I'm surprised you haven't given yourself a medal. You're a catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a shitty president, but even he never conceded an entire metropolis to rising water and snakes. On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon, and the city of New Orleans . Maybe you're just not lucky. I'm not saying you don't love this country, I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side. So yes, God does speak to you, and what he's saying is, 'Take a hint.'" --Bill Maher

Actually it's a hey looks like all the newbies are no right wing fascists thread. Why do right wingers always try and equate their government with America. GW doesn't represent American values, just the current government administration. To say a critisizim a sitting elected official is an attack on the government which he leads is like to say a critisizim of a McDonalds employee is an attack on the corporate McDonalds entity.

Tis also one of the signs of a totalitarian government, when you can't express your feelings against a government entity without being berated, threatened, and called anti-patriotic.

That was a bit harsh. He is writing clearly and intelligently, which is a lot better than a large percentage of people on this site (especially lately). Why chase away the good ones?

No worries...Binkie will soon fly in and counter-attack with her "smart" bombs, it will all work out.

Nice to see you again, Sternn, glad to see you aren't still obsessed or anything.

Just as a note for newer members who may be confused over the harsh tone directed at Sternn:

Gothic.net went down temporarily this summer for maintenance. When it came back online, the previous ban list was apparently reset. Sternn here was on that ban list not too long ago for clearly threatening the life of another board member.

That kind of behavior isn't tolerated here, by either the previous admin or the board members, themselves. Make no mistake that he is a troll who was unwelcome here then, and is unwelcome here now.

The "anti-American" claims directed at him stem from his track record of,

a.) Cracking 9/11 jokes on this site,
b.) Posting pictures of dead American soldiers which he found humorous,
c.) Clearly stating that Americans are fat, stupid, and arrogant,
d.) Only chosing to degrade the US government and US citizens through his posts.

All I saw was someone posting a somewhat controversial opinion and being immediately bashed for it.
Thanks, Binkie, for clearing that up.

Personally, I love and adore America.

I vote in every election(even the city council elections). I voted for Bush the first time but not the second(although if I had to do it again I would have voted for Bush). I don't agree with his personal beliefs and some of his decisions but the American people voted for him. He is the president. So I stand, not specifically behind Bush, but behind the American people and American ideals.

After all, The United States of America is the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

I am not going to argue that just because Canada did legalize gay marriage.

Although, the pros of capitolism far outweigh the pros of socialism.

I wasn't really going to try to convince you. I just couldn't leave that statement unchallenged. Maybe you should say that it was just your opinion.
We Canadians; so easygoing.

We Americans; workaholics.

I think I would rather be easygoing, though.

If circumstances were different, there's a high possibility that I would of been living in the United States. But, I was born here in Australia and I'm generally happy to be living where I am and I wouldn't want to trade any country as my home.

Once again, like always, the normal not-goth right wing krew come in with personal attacks. Nothing at all to say about your current state of affairs? Half your government officials being brought up on felony charges? Poll rating lower than nixons? Over a thousand dead in New Orleans while bush was on vacation (again).

Well, I myself just got out of Port Laoise. Bogus charges etc, etc. Why did they decide this time to trump up the charges?

Well folks, for anyone in the US armed forces flying through Ireland note a few things.

1. All personell must wear plain clothes when leaving the plane in Shannon. Why? Over the past few months service members leaving us military flights, illegal fly overs which the us government still says aren't happening, even though we watch them daily, have increased. Layover also increased. Personell in uniform have been repeated assualted at local pubs. Alot. Often. Now they go incognito.

I was arrested for GBH on various members of the US military. They want to state thier opinion on our anti war movement, fine. Do so outside my country, or face the consequences.

2. After speaking with many now plain clothed us military members, I found MANY didn't want to go to war at all. They were as opposed as we were. So now we have the Shannon Peace Camp at the airport. Any us military members who do not want to fight may find our booth, ask for asylum, and will get it. Techincally, the us does not recognise this asylum, much like Canada in Vietnam, but to date over 300 us military members have gone AWOL through Shannon.

I myself have met and worked with more than I care to actually say. But I noticed many are on this site and have net access, so if you want to 'jump ship lads', we not only will help you, I can promise they will never find you here. Just make sure your refueling in Shannon.

We have the support of our government in Dublin, of course my party Sinn Fein, and not to mention the hundreds of workers who donate their time and resources daily to help these brave men save their lives from being consumed in a war for oil.

Anyway, yeah, haven't been here for a while, because I've been out actually making a change rather than sitting on my laurels complaining about the state of affairs.

If that makes me a troll, then I'm a happy troll.

Also, greets from the yanks here to anyone still over. Their advise, don't be afraid to follow your heart.

Yes, we are, in the true sense of the word liberal (liber is latin for free). Except when I'm moderating, of course. This site then becomes a gerontocracy (I know that only a handfull of you get it, so go look it up).

.

A true liberal embraces individualism WITHIN the fabric of society.

Couldn't resist posting this little poll result...

http://news.**********/s/usatoday/200...ltBHNlYwM3MTY-

GOP rift on ports, poll dip hit Bush

• Bush's job-approval rating is 38%, 1 percentage point above the lowest rating of his tenure. The proportion who strongly approve of him has fallen to 20%, the lowest ever. The proportion that strongly disapproves has risen to 44%, the highest ever. (Related: Complete poll results)

• The president's approval rating on terrorism is 47%, down 7 points in a month and a record low.

• The Republican Party's advantage over Democrats on terrorism has narrowed to 45%-40%.

Poll: Bush Ratings At All-Time Low

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1350874.shtml

(CBS) The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.

Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports. Seven in 10 Americans, including 58 percent of Republicans, say they're opposed to the agreement.

*snip*

...Could be worse. He could be Cheney, who stands at an all time low record for any public official having only 18% of america viewing him as 'favorable'.
