Ok back on topic...one of the strangest questions I have ever been asked, seeing as I have a tooth missing in the front of my mouth, would have to have been "did you remove your tooth as some sort of gothic statement *rotfl*. Yes I'm so Goth I knock my own teeth out to make a statement *lol*. The other one I always like hearing is "how do you know if you're a true goth"...personally I think once you don't actually care about the label or being "goth" enough in the eyes of anybody else that is a pretty good indication that being "goth" is just who you are and not based on surface fashion values

You know, that is probably the most stunning application for identifying punk and goth. "Goth" has an almost meaningful well thought out definition.
"Punk" has much better definition on this on-line source. However, it still has little tie ins to what I believe is a tasteless joke, that was badly misunderstood one night after some punks had to much to drink.
