Thumbs up

Just watched "Secret Window" with the 'family' here. Very well constructed suspense thriller - I did not see the ending coming.

I had some fettuccini with chicken and broccoli for supper. Reheated a few slices of yesterday's pizza during the movie and drank a couple of Negra Modelo's.

Everyone else has gone to bed and I am enjoying some classic motown groups on PBS like Ashford & Simpson and The Four Tops. And in a little bit I will have a dish of Intense Chocolate ice cream. It's been a damn fine day!

Hickory.. Dickory.. dock.
The mouse ran up the clock,
The clock struck one...
The mouse ran down...
Hickory... Dickory.. Dock.

A Silly poem for Langher

There once was a fella named Ben,
Who enjoyed all the women one can..
A flirt not a fighter
He'd pull an all nighter
As long as she numbered a ten.

This is your que to laugh.

Hmmm ... you wouldn't be referring to moi, would you?

Well, they don't call me Ben Laughter for nothing. That was pretty funny!

No, I haven't. I used to read every book he came out with, but at a certain point (Firestarter, I think) I grew tired of his shallow characterizations (particularly women) and a certain repetitiveness of plot. I read "From A Buick 8" last fall and changed my opinion, so he was back on my list of authors to look into. And yes, the movie very much interested me in reading the novella.

BTW, saw your comment elsewhere regarding Deen Koontz, and I agree about his writing. I've read one book by him that I enjoyed thouroughly, and that one got me because of the super-smart dog that I was rooting for, not the human protagonists.

And yes, that kid should be slapped. Then his sugar supply should be destroyed. Wow!

Hey, look at what kind of fun we're having today in the "Word Association" thread:

08:31 AM
Sanctus Dei - ......Bollocks

09:54 AM
WolfMoon - billiards!

10:18 AM
Ben Lahnger - Nice rack!

Sorry, Wolfie, but it just popped into my head. I usually try to be more subtle, but ... I'm a big ol' lech. What can I say?

I was a moody, bitchy person today ... er, yesterday. Losing my cell phone/PDA at the grocery store didn't help. I was pretty damned crabby and somewhat mean to my girlfriend (uncharacteristically so.)

I'm gonna have to find some creative ways to make it up to her tomorrow.

Last night I stayed up with a friend watching badly made zombie movies.
We were high so it was funnily.
Always I forgot that I have work to day so now after 2 hours of sleep I’m sitting at this PC, trying to stay awake, I can’t write my story because my brain has turned to mush, I can’t sleep because there’s workmen in the building who need my fall attention.
The coffee helps but after 7 cups I’m staring to get worried about side affects, all that I have to do is make it to lunch when I can get stupid amounts of food in me to build up my energy.
I’m ok, the hallucination are gone now, if I can just make it through the day with out the pink thing coming back… I need sleep.

Yesterday sucked ... I felt a little down, lost my cell phone, was thinking about all the things I want or need and all the money I don't have ...

Today, I think I have a job!

Verizon Wireless called and made a conditional job offer, pending drug test and background check. I'm going for those this afternoon and am confident that I will pass, so ...

on April 3rd, I should be starting as the newest customer service representative in Verizon's call center in Houston!

Yeah for team Ben!!!

In 1826, the second and third presidents of the United States, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, died in harmony on July 4, exactly fifty years after they signed the Declaration of Independence. The New-York American wrote:

By a coincidence marvellous and enviable, THOMAS JEFFERSON in like manner with his great compeer, John Adams, breathed his last on the 4th of July. Emphatically may we say, with a Boston paper, had the horses and the chariot of fire descended to take up the patriarchs, it might have been more wonderful, but not more glorious. We remember nothing in the annals of man so striking, so beautiful, as the death of these two "time-honoured" patriots, on the jubilee of that freedom, which they devoted themselves and all that was dear to them, to proclaim and establish. It cannot all be chance.
